I sometimes feel like the way to being a Christian kinda sucks. And then sometimes it makes perfect sense.
I like to use a common example: There’s the people who do good all their lives but still end up in hell. Meanwhile, there’s people that are bad all their lives, but, at the last minute, they get saved and end up in heaven. Why?
Welp, I’m here to answer that question.
Sometimes I don’t agree with the system but it’s in place and there’s nothing you can do to change it. Understand that there is absolutely nothing we can do to get into heaven. There’s just nothing we can do on our own. But still, the question remains Why? Or I guess why not?
Look, God is the ultimate judge. Not only that, but He’s the perfect judge as He has not committed any sin. And God is such a perfect God, that He refuses to let in any imperfection. He doesn’t want to let in any sin. Meanwhile, the human race is full of sinners. We are all sinners.
In the Old Testament, the time before Jesus, different rituals had to be performed in order to cleanse yourself of any sin. So then Jesus came. Why? Because He basically
STOP!
Let me clarify that I believe that Jesus is the Son of God, as well as God Himself. They are one in the same. Jesus wasn’t just some prophet performing miracles and such. He is more than that.
Now where was I? Oh yeah…
He basically rendered all of those rituals useless. Now, instead of sacrificing an animal, we get to just pray to our heavenly father. And that’s because Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice. The ultimate “animal”. That’s why Christians refer to Jesus as “the lamb of God”. So again, Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice. A sacrifice we cannot repay.
And that’s the subject of this post.
Our nature is that when someone does us a favor, we “owe ya one”. We look to pay that person back for the favor. The key here is that we can’t pay back what Jesus did. It’s impossible. So no, you cannot “buy” your way into heaven with good works and constant church going. It’s not going to work. Sorry.
Hey guess what?
If you don’t accept Jesus as your Lord and personal savior, you will not enter the kingdom of heaven. Forget about it. I don’t care if you gave up everything. If you don’t give your life to the Lord, you’re on your way to hell. I hate to be this blunt, but sometimes we need a wake-up call like this. And I hate sugarcoating stuff too.
You can’t buy your way into heaven. I keep saying it but it’s a common mistake that I’m sure millions of people have made. “All I can do is do the best I can and if God decides I’m worthy, then I’m good”. No, no, no. You’re best isn’t good enough. My best isn’t good enough. The greatest Christians on earth will not get into heaven unless they have been saved by Jesus. I have a theory as to what happened in the times before Jesus but it’s irrelevant to our current situation.
I’ll be the first to admit it sucks seeing people unsaved living what appears to be a better life. Why do people get to have a good life and I’m sitting here feeling like an idiot? Welp, that’s actually a chapter in one of my books. And, if I went into even a bit of it, I would end up off track. At the end of the post, you’ll get a chance to dive deeper into this paragraph’s thought. But we need to move on.
But you’re still reading.
And good for you for still reading. It’s ok that our best isn’t good enough. Another thing about God is that He’s extremely merciful. He decided that He wanted us to be with Him so bad He sent His only Son to die. For you. For me. For everybody that curses Him. For everybody that blames Him for all the harm in their lives.
It’s so easy to accept Him too. Too easy. And people are baffled by this. “What’s the catch?” But understand, there is no catch. There are no strings attached.
I’m going to stop right here. The goal of the post has been accomplished. But, if you are unsaved and/or you’re interested in learning more, I invite you to my blog, Christian Interpretations, to learn more about Jesus and His incredible love for you.
