Good Friday: Good News Around the Web 2

This week we have a good cop, and a superstar athlete making a visit to a kid. Let’s get to it first with our cop.

Hulk Derrick Hogan is a police officer who helped an 86 year old woman in a great way. First, the police station sent him to her house as she wasn’t able to drive. Relatives who usually helped her had passed, including her son. So, Hogan goes in and it turns out that the lady needed a way to get food from the local church.

Dogan decides that maybe the church wouldn’t help. So, he went to the grocery store himself and bought the little old lady food…with his own money. She gave him a list but he bought more than what was on the list. He bought her some tasty ham as well as decorations for her house.

You ever see the police cars that turn on their lights just to go through a red light or pass by traffic? I know, jerks. I really hope Hogan isn’t that jerk. After this story, it would sure suck if he was that kind of guy. Anyway, it’s a nice holiday story and it keeps you reminded that there is good people around in the world.

Speaking of good people, and this one hits closer to home, NBA superstar Kevin Durant had played a great game and scored 29 points but his team lost to the Wizards. Now, if you follow the NBA closely, you know losing to the Wizards is really bad. Anyway, short after a loss, I guess he checked his Twitter and saw he had a request from a 14 year old boy in the hospital asking for a birthday visit.

So what does Kevin do? Yeah, you guessed it, he goes right to the hospital and visits the lad. If you follow the NBA closely, you know Durant is one of the good guys of the league. He’s adored and can’t do any wrong. Some writers have actually want him to get a little mean every once in a while. It’s great to see guys like that doing things like this. I know I was a kid who spent time in the hospital too and while I didn’t request any special appearances, I would imagine it helps the healing process or lifts your spirits when you hero takes the time to appreciate you. Good job Kevin.
