When we realize that our own words are the ultimate weapon, we’ll be able to do great things. Take God for instance. He created the world by speaking it into existence. Yes, if you don’t know, the universe was made, not by hand, but by the tongue. That’s how great God is. That’s how powerful He is.
And He made us in the same way. Yes, we are made in His own image. People can misunderstand this. It is not our physical beings that are in God’s image. It’s our spirits. I’m not going to get into that because that’s not the theme of this post. Anyway, we have to realize that if we say something enough, we can speak into existence. (verse)
And so that saying “watch what you say” and other warnings about what we say are really true. So now what?
We need to say positive things. Speak life into each other and ourselves. It may not seem like much, but it will work. One note is to believe in what you say too although sometimes that’s not the ultimate criteria for the power of the tongue. Yes, can say something and not mean it but it can still take affect.
Kids are really vulnerable to what you say to them. But look, think about yourself. Someone may say something negative about you. There’s a sting there. And the same when someone praises you. You feel better about yourself, even if for a moment. So yeah, “sticks and stones my break my bones, but words will never hurt me” is simply not true. We can be hurt. It’s how we respond that’s key.
If we know who we are, negative words won’t kill us. As for the compliments, let’s make sure our head doesn’t get too big. Avoid pride. It’s a delicate that isn’t easy to maintain. Let’s speak positive things into each other. And, if we have to burst people’s bubble, do it in a loving way.
Watch what you say today. There is power in the tongue. God spoke the universe into existence. Just words can do so much. Be sure to speak life into your situation. Speak life into your loved ones. Just speak life. At the mention of Jesus’ name, demons tremble. Speak with power. Love. Faith.
