Dante’s Opinion: What do you think about self publishing books?

Time for another batch of questions. You ready? I am.

First question is from Firepaw_The Storyteller of Life:

What do you think about self publishing books? Do you think it might be the future of publishing? (Please explain)

Okay, so I self published a couple of books. I always thought it was a good way for people to be heard. Publishing companies of course are better able to filter out not so good products. But, there are a lot of good writers that simply would not be able to get with a publisher for one reason or another. So yeah, I think it’s a good thing. As for it being the way of the future…I can agree with that too. Many self publishing companies will allow you to do things for free but also have professional services for things like marketing or even looking at your work for you. I think self publishing, especially free services, are a way for authors to get something out there. In the end, there’s not much difference between going to a publisher or doing it yourself if you pay the self publishing platform for various services. I wouldn’t be surprised to start hearing about big publishers offering self publishing opportunities. I don’t think we’re close to that but it could happen in another decade or two if success stories continue to pop up from self published authors.

Felix:

Thoughts on guy peeing on woman? A guy living in the same state as me just got arrested for going up to a stranger in public (woman) and urinating on her. He as been given 3 months for it, what do you guys think of it, fair or unfair?

Word? He peed on her? For no reason or what? I hate to say this but I laughed. Okay, so was his sentence fair? His actions were very inappropriate but…I mean…I would say that’s fair. I know. I’m probably all alone here but I can agree with that sentence.

Melanie C. asks:

GUYS! I need your help! What are some good gift ideas? My boyfriend is 22, what’s a good gift?? Since he tells me he doesn’t want anything…late Xmas gift! I need help! I live in a state that has no sport teams…lol sooo

I’m 22! Okay, so gift card to a store like Best Buy or some clothing store. Or just a generic gift card. I’m sure he’s got a phone. Maybe a cool case or something. Does he like movies or music? Maybe get him a movie or iTunes card or something. Guys who say they don’t really want anything probably don’t want much. We’re cool like that. All I asked was for a gift card. I’ll get the stuff myself.

Gift card him.

And that’s it for today.
