So, 2011 was an interesting year. That’s when I started writing this blog. Now, seven years later, and many posts written, I see that there is one post that has dominated the blog’s views. And it was published in 2013, the year the blog started its rise to power.
What’s interesting is this post was a sequel post. The first post actually has pretty poor views, so I still have to wonder why this one is the clear winner. Is it because people really do like sequels? I really don’t know.
When I tell you what this post is, you’ll probably agree. I’ve sort of told you what kind of post consistently gets the highest views. Quite honestly, this series is the largest series I’ve ever done, and it has carried this blog year after year. My optimistic stuff doesn’t sell well compared to this.
Yup, it’s Daily Good Stuff.
My DGS posts from the original run in 2013 have been the most viewed posts year after year. Since they are older than most, they are also some of the highest ranking posts of all time.
This particular DGS post was number 230: Funny Comics 2
So, I decided to look at the post to see why it was such a big score. Again, this is the second version of its kind, but the original isn’t anywhere close in views. There are some pretty funny comic strips in there, though.
My first thought is I really didn’t name it well. When we say “comics” we can lean towards standup comics. But, really, comics can represent both the strip and person. So, I guess it’s okay. I GUESS.
Another thought is, I probably should’ve linked to the original post, to try to milk in those views. I knew WordPress would recommend it afterward. But, I probably should’ve emphasized it.
When I look at the first one, I notice a big mistake: Two comics from the first one appear in the second one. How’d I let that happen!? Also, I have commentary in the first one. The second one has no commentary, which explains why there are so many views.
When I don’t talk, things generally go well. I’m serious.
I really don’t have much else to say about this. Daily Good Stuff is timeless material, and that’s a good thing. But, it shows people prefer that over the more positive vibe I’ve been trying to produce. Does this mean I should go back to humor? Well, The Optimists’ Boost does have a humor element to it so we’ll see how it goes. It’s just that, it won’t be labeled for humor, so the clicks may not come.
Either way, in all of these years, Daily Good Stuff is the number one viewed post. Congrats, post!
