Daily Good Stuff 216: New Features Emerge

Alright so it’s been a whole week. But, we’re back and ready for more action. We’re going to go through the same lineup as usual and then the two new features will round out the post.

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. Romans 13:1-2 (NIV)

I gotta imagine it’s not that comfortable, right? It probably would’ve been cooler if he took the entire game system outside and had an extension cord and such. Heck, hook it up to a generator. But I ain’t mad at cha!

Weekly News 13: Good, Positive, Weird, and Funny

Ah, it’s been a while since I posted any news since I haven’t done DGS all week. So, here we go with this week’s past news.

We got a bunch of veterans being treated like the heroes they are.

A group of Marines on their way home from Afghanistan got something they didn’t expect after spending five days getting on and off planes on their way to San Diego: cheers from a crowd of police officers, a fire truck water salute and first-class plane tickets.

There’s more about those plane tickets in the link.

Starbucks is doing things for veterans as well. Or at least, it’s planning to.

Because Starbucks values the skills and talents of men and women in the U.S. military, it has announced a strategic plan to hire at least 10,000 veterans and active-duty spouses over the next five years.

We always see and hear about how hard it is coming back after service and living a normal life. Good for Starbucks for doing this. And, in such a short period of time. See what else they plan on doing.

20 Random Thoughts

I have always had a strange mind. I decided to showcase this with 20 thoughts I’ve had this week. After you read this, you can’t unread it. In all of this, we remember that this is all a dream, or something. I like stuff and a cow isn’t a hippo.

On to the list!

My Five Favorite Pixar Movies

Cover of "The Incredibles [UMD for PSP]"

Cover of The Incredibles [UMD for PSP]

Only five? Yeah, only five. I haven’t met a Pixar movie I didn’t like. Um, spoiler alert I guess.

5. WALL-E

We needed this movie. This was a scary one as WALL-E was about a robot who lived in 2105, a time where Earth is all messed up due to pollution and humans have left it behind. Meanwhile, the humans are so obese that it’s hilariously sad. They’re working on cleaning up the Earth to one day “return home”. And, WALL-E is a big part of that. A single plant is Earth’s last chance and WALL-E and his…some kind of friend/lover EVE…are protecting it from the…I don’t want to say “evil” but every movie needs a bad guy, right? This movie is possible if we’re not careful. Wake up, world.

4. Monsters Inc

This still leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I mean, if you’ve seen the end of it, you know what I’m talking about. I would’ve liked to see what Boo looked like. Anyway, this movie was fun in that it took you on an adventure you wouldn’t really consider as a possibility. While I don’t think I had a monster in my closet, Pixar did a great job of creating a business out of scaring. The idea of using the screams of children to convert into “power or energy” was awesome. I do like how, in the end, Sully figures out that laughter can produce the “energy” that the monster world needed. Great twist, there.

15 Followers from Completing Social Media Challenge

I wrote about a month ago how I had a goal to get to 800 followers before 2014. I did the math of how many followers I would need per day, week, and I think month. Welp, it’s going better than expected.

In case you don’t know, my following comes from Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Tumblr, Google+, and WordPress users. Most of the new follows have come from WordPress and Tumblr so big thanks to ya. Twitter, LinkedIn, and G+ helped as well. Facebook actually hasn’t grown much and I rarely get traffic from there even though it’s my largest following.

Still, I am only 15 followers, as I write this, away from the goal. A big thanks to all of you for following me. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here: It’s the content of the blog that you’re following. Not necessarily me. I also noticed a spike of follows as I stopped writing personal stuff. So, I will also keep this in mind. Just as I suspected, it’s not me you want; it’s the Daily Good Stuff and the Weekly features on the weekends. I mean, even looking at the most view posts stats I can see that too.

You can read my original post here.

Again, if you want to be a part of this, just head over to the Join DALANEL page and be a part of a growing leader in the world of positive blogging!

Page Updates

One thing I didn’t think about doing during the blog shutdown was re-adding a page that used to be here. Join DALANEL! is back up. This is your chance to join me on the site Just take a look at the page for all of the sexy details. I took it down because I gave up adding a few bloggers here. But, I’ll leave it up; I think as this blog gets bigger, somebody will eventually want some of this.

However, there’s a couple of changes to pages. Blog Network actually has entirely new content; content that was a post here on DALANEL. “A New DALANEL Goal: Be Part of A Blog Network” is the name of the post. I put all of that information in Blog Network.

Meanwhile, I took all of the content that used to be in Blog Network and just added it to the Writing Career page. It seemed to make a little more sense.

Lastly, I promised a video on my Accept Jesus page but I didn’t anticipate YouTube giving me so much grief. I can tell you that it is up so go ahead and check out the video.

I’ll still be making minor tweaks in the background in the upcoming days. Thanks for hanging in there and keep the feedback coming via comment and/or poll.
