Wednesday Word: Stay Focused on God

This video was one of the funniest I’ve watched. Let’s take a look.

His lovely wife though. Look, let me go over my commentary and I’ll end with her.

As our friend was saying, there are a lot of things that can distract us from God. God says no other gods before Him. We can get caught up in other idols like money, people, things…ourselves. Deep. Don’t let yourself say “aw, it’s not as far to say idolism”. That’s what the enemy wants you to believe. His goal is to make sure sin seems like no big deal so that we continue it.

Getting in God’s word will help us focus on Him much better. Daily meditation on Him can only help. Give Him time of day as we give other things time of day that we probably shouldn’t.

Alright…so as the video was going on, I couldn’t help but notice that the wife spent time looking as if she was dozing off. So, it didn’t surprise me when she suddenly disappeared from the video. Look, I’m not saying she quit on the video to take a nap. But…just watch it again. Look at her when her head is down. Meditation? Um…y’all let me know though!

I had a good laugh.

Tuesday Testimony: God will bring you through

Story originally from Testimony Share.

I’m your regular junior in high school- always laughing and joking, and always wanting to be with my friends. However, ten months ago, I would have never thought I would be where I am now. I live in a small town. Up until Fifth Grade, I grew up in the county’s small public school system.

However, my Momma got offered a job teaching at a small Christian private school when I was in my last year of elementary school, so I began going to that school as well. Things were great for the first two years, however as I grew from middle school to high school, it seemed like everything crumbled. I was seen as “never good enough” to the headmaster and always compared to the favorite students of the school. I was even told that I needed to seek out professional counseling.

Monday Motivation: Claim your year

2015 is better than 2014. You have to claim it. This is the year you become great. If you’re already great, be greater. Raise the bar of your life. Set a higher standard. 2014 was awesome. You made it. Now it’s time to take on 2015.

Claim your year. Claim it right now. You must do it. The power of the tongue is real. So go and speak life into your year. You will rise. Your family will rise. Your friends will rise. Your career will rise. Your academic performance will rise.

It all starts with you claiming it.

Red, White, and Black

I’ve decided that the official colors of DALANEL will be red, white, and black with some splashes of gray and silver. My favorite colors are red, blue, and green. However, red, white, and black seem to be my favorite combination of colors.

This means that I’ll probably be changing the blog’s layout. We’ll see.

I will also mold Tumblr to follow the same color scheme as DALANEL. If you follow me there already, you noticed a few changes. Expect a few more.

I was thinking about changing the name of this blog. I have decided against it. It shall remain DALANEL for now.

Next week I will resume my weekly postings.

Top Lighting Moments of 2014

Dalanel's avatarDante Light

This was an interesting year for me in my lighting “career”. It started off terribly with the Good Friday play. But, since then, it’s been a great run as I and the ALF Lighting Crew have made a powerful presence. So, I share with you my top ten lighting moments of 2014.

7. Creating the lighting handbook

One of the things I started working on this past summer was a handbook. A guide for my lighting crew. I did a lot of research to make this a realistic, accurate, book. I’m very proud of this project, and it;s just getting started.

6. Being able to improve our lighting selection

In the past, the lighting we’ve used was…old school. No LED for one thing. I’ve spent time making a push to look for other, better lighting fixtures. And in our two lighting appearances this year, we’ve turned heads with this spectacular…

Fearless Friday: 13 year old saves family from fire

In this new yet old feature on DALANEL, Fearless Friday looks at good news from across the web with one theme: Heroes. This story is a perfect example.

13 year old Ania Polk found that her house was on fire. She got her siblings out of there safely.

The brave girl went back upstairs to get her brothers out of the home. She credits her quick actions to her teacher, Ms. Pamela Scott. She says she learned what to do during health class a few weeks ago. According to the girl’s parents, she created a home escape plan and checking the smoke alarms.

It’s a teacher’s dream when the lessons they give are carried out. That’s awesome for Ania. The entire story can be read here. Take a lesson from this girl and make sure that, in the event of an emergency, you know what the plan is. I learned my tricks from Boy Scouts. But, easily look on the internet for home escape plans. Don’t wish you did.

So…that’s what Fearless Friday is all about. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I’m always trying to tweak some things. So, don’t think this is the usual.
