Monday Motivation: Encourage someone

Well I guess I’ve officially run out of things to motivate on for the moment. In an earlier motivation, I called for you to motivate somebody else.

Let’s try this again, but with a little more content. Specifically, encourage someone. Your friend. Lover. Momma. Co-worker. If you see someone is feeling down, send a kind word to them. Chances are, all of us know somebody with cancer, sadly. Give that person an encouraging word.

If they don’t take it; too bad. You did your job. Make a sincere effort and sleep well tonight.

There’s a lot of stuff going on in this world that can make ya feel like crap. Well, this blog’s main goal is to encourage. It’s almost a sin that it took me this many motivations before getting to this one.

If we all keep encouraging each other to keep going through the fire, we’ll get through it, or at least bare it better.

Good News Friday: $1,000 tip helps struggling mother

From The Good News Network:

Medical bills were piling up for Chrisi Kemp after her daughter got sick and an appliance had just broken at home, reports ABC.

The North Carolina waitress told ABC11 that she had a breakdown right before coming into work at the One Whirled Cafe in Raleigh last Thursday.

Her evening got brighter very quickly when a male customer, who wants to remain anonymous, settled his $14.01 tab by adding a $1,000 tip.

There is also a video in the link. The image of the receipt is a little funny to me for some odd reason.

Wednesday Word: Love your enemies

This is a long sermon by my standards, but this is a very important message. Let’s take a listen:

The last couple of minutes were big for me. Sometimes, when we do something that the Bible tells us, there’s a reason for it. It’s for our benefit or it’s for someone else. But, sometimes, we forget that we do these things because God says so.

That’s the reality with all commandments. God said so, so, technically, that’s enough. But, it sometimes isn’t, and we have to tell ourselves that we win in the end by getting a reward.

Is that the only reason why we follow God’s commands? For the rewards? And, if they are not what we want, then we decide not to be a follower for the day?

We need to be real here: God’s commands should be taken seriously. It’s a happy coincidence in some cases that we get a little “prize” in the end. Technically, if God says it, then that’s it.

Loving our enemies is one of the hardest things to do. But the key word is “love” God is love. By that definition, the Holy Spirit is love. And, the Holy Spirit lives in His children. He produces fruit; one of them: Love. And so, as we are alive by the spirit of God, we produce this fruit. So, God’s kids are love. I’m not going to dive into the trinity and all of that. I’ve done that before. Let’s keep things on topic.

That’s why we’re told to love. It’s not only a “feeling”, but it’s what we are. We must do what we are designed to do. Love. Obviously, it’s easier to love people that show love. But, again, love isn’t a feeling. Not just a feeling, anyway. True love puts aside feelings and continues on. If love were based on feeling, we’d be screwed. God loves us unconditionally, but what if He only loved us when we didn’t sin? I guess we’d be doomed from the door.

That’s what loving is all about. Yourself. Your neighbor. Your enemy. Everybody.

Read this. It’s about why we should love others.

I’m out.

Tuesday Testimony: Free!

I’m so glad Jesus found me and changed me.  He turned my life around and me made me whole; im a witness Jesus Christ is real and I love him so much because he first love me.  I thank him everyday for my life because he gave me a brand new life.  I was lost, I hated my life, I was suicidal, I hated myself and I had no control.

I was an alcoholic ever since I was 7 or 8 years old.  I was abused.  I was a reject; my own mother disowned me and wished me dead.  I didn’t know love at all.  I was sexually and physically abused by different people because no one cared for me and no really cared if I lived or died.

One day someone told me that Jesus Christ loved me and died for me and bought me and I said how can he love a person like me I’m a sinner and deserve to die and go to hell but I’m glad I gave him my whole life and taught me how to love and forgive.  He also healed me and gave me a right mind and just love singing for him.

Monday Motivation: Share a good news story on your blog

Here’s a challenge to you for this week: Spread the good news. Talk about the hero. Talk about a personal story. Find some kind of story that showcases the positive that’s going on in this world.

Need help?

Visit common sites like Huff Post, ABC, and the like. You should be able to find (though sadly it’s not very easy) the good news or positive news section.

A better place however is Good News Network. This site is all about the good news.

Of course, while I sometimes use those sites to help me find a story, I mostly just do random search terms on Bing (I use BING; so what?) and find my own stories.

But yeah, take a day out of your posting schedule to do this. Let’s leave the drama alone for a minute. Even if not on your site; share a link to your followers on social media. Do something to spread the good that’s going on.

Me? Oh, well that’s what Good News Friday is for. See ya then!

Monday Motivation: Follow my lighting crew’s pledge

Kind. Respectful. Honest.

Over this summer, I’ve created a handbook to guide the crew members I have for the lighting crew at my church. Those three words are the pledge. No, I don’t require them to raise a hand or say “I pledge to…”

But, as with any pledge, it’s a promise. This promise is for the members of the crew to be kind, honest, and respectful to each other. At all times. All three get equal value.

So, I want you to follow my crew’s example. Decide today to treat people in accordance to the pledge. Be kind to people. Be respectful. Be honest. The trick is to be able to be all three at the same time. Find that balance.

That’s what I and my crew are working on. My crew is filled with teens. Teens can be immature at times but I love my crew members and they have great intentions.

Will you follow my crew’s pledge?
