Why my WordPress followers are my favorite

Oh Lord, what did I do!? I don’t look at my followings from various places as my kids. I do have a favorite following.

Huh, I guess I do look at you all as my kids. I know for a fact my baby sister is the favorite of the three of us. My parents deny it; but it’s true.

I guess my favorite kid is WordPress. Ya know, when I first joined WP and was trying to understand terminology, I came across publicize. You could connect your social media accounts to the blog. Apparently, the blog used at least the numbers from Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook as well as the blog itself as to give one number: You following. At least, that’s how I figured it out. When I put in the “Follow Blog” widget, when I check the little box to show the number of followers, I noticed it was bigger than the blog’s actual following. After doing some math, that’s how I came to my conclusion. I just wonder why G+, LinkedIn, and Path aren’t a part of it. But, whenever I talk about my following, I mention each of those areas in publicize.

Daily Good Stuff 237: Mom’s Birthday

So, I haven’t done this in a long time but, I promised myself I would do my mom’s birthday. Already did me and my two sisters and dad. Last member of the fam is mom. In case you don’t know, Daily Good Stuff is a collection of quotes, scripture, funny videos, funny images, jokes, weird/funny news, positive/good news, holidays, and interesting facts.

Even though I stopped doing these posts, views show that DGS remains a top viewed post. Out of my top 20 viewed posts, DGS is in ten spots. Weekly Funnies posts take up three other spots. You clearly like funny stuff but that’s simply not my focus anymore. Should I bring it back? Probably, if I want explosive views. Will I bring it back? Not likely.

It’s a themed post of course so things will be birthday related.

It’s been a while; hope I still got it.

You know you’re getting old when the candles cost more than the cake. Bob Hope

Monday Motivation: Be Yourself Part 2

One of the most liked posts here on DALANEL is a chapter from my book, “Be Yourself”. Welp, I’m going to talk about that chapter in this Monday Motivation. Ya ready?

I’ve always felt that, we should stand up for who we are. No one else can. People will give themselves up for money, love, power, and more. We can’t do that. We gotta stop that.

But how?

Daily Good News 55: Wells Fargo gives to charity, Teen saves boy from drowning

BiblePromise-Scripture-Verses-for-your-Daily-Bread_1

Wells Fargo doing some charity work in at least the local area:

In 2012 Wells Fargo donated over 300 million dollars to charities. Now two years later they are still at it. Friday afternoon a check was handed over to the executive director of Habitat For Humanity Of Magic Valley, in the amount of 15,000 dollars.

Next, a teen boy scout saved a boy from drowning in ice water:

Footprints seen in the snow covering the ice show the exact route the 9-year-old took near the bank of the pond. His footprints, however, come to an abrupt end in the spot where he fell through.

‘I ran down there, and I stood on the grass and I reached out and I grabbed his hand and I pulled him out,’ Zac says.

When asked if he was worried that he, too, might get pulled into the icy water by helping the younger boy, Zac says ‘yes and no because if I went in, I know how to get out because Boy Scouts taught me.’

The former boy scout in me fist pumps!

Daily Good News 54: Woman saves kids from car fire, Breakthrough in blindness research

Quote-change-your-thoughts2

First, a woman witnesses a car become engulfed in flames. She also realized that there were kids inside:

A passer-by rescued the children from the vehicle after it burst into flames while their mother was collecting a prescription from a nearby pharmacy. The pair, along with an older child and their mother, were taken to hospital.

A central ambulance communications spokesman said three children were taken to Palmerston North Hospital with smoke inhalation and burns; a 13-month-old and 3-year-old with minor injuries, and a third child, believed to be 7, with moderate injuries.

So young! At least someone was able to help out.

Next, there was a breakthrough in research for choroideremia, a rare and incurable form of blindness:

Daily Good News 53: Helping prostitutes, Donation of $15k opens health clinic, and Woman saves man in wheelchair from fire

I’m gonna borrow this photo that Nia used in her post.

Alright, first order of business. There are agencies trying to get our young ladies off the streets. Here’s a little something:

Mary Carol Melton runs the “Off The Streets” program for Cincinnati Union Bethel. She knows a lot of the girls at the service. Melton says it’s a hard process, but the program works and saves lives. Chantall Nunnally says she tried several programs. Tried to stop selling herself, tried to stop using drugs. Nothing worked until she met Melton. Thanks to them she is three years sober, has a full time job and is moving up to a management position.

Yeah, not everybody can be helped, but, it can be worth it even if one person is saved.

Next, a man donates $15k to help open a new clinic:
