Daily Good News 44: Meek Mill Donates to Group Home; Man Overcomes Physical Adversity to Save A Life

Jack-Sparrow-quotes-pirates-of-the-caribbean-33979762-372-400

Rapper Meek Mill continues to show support for Philly. He visited a group home with lots of Christmas gifts in tow:

However, Meek’s commitment to revisiting Philly and its youth is beyond commendable. Cameras were present when Meek and his team played Santa to a Philly group home with sneakers, clothing, food, books, TVs, XBox Ones and more.

That’s awesome.

A man is a hero, after spending most of his life trying to overcome physical adversity:

Sprout was especially elated when she learned that her 31-year-old son, Dennis “D.J.” Sprout, was recognized by the Charles County Consolidated 911 Center in Charleston, S.C, for his work in instructing a caller to perform CPR that saved a man’s life. “I think it’s amazing that everyone was there to help us when D.J. was needing help, and today he is out helping others,” said Bonnie, as she recalled D.J.’s early development and his recent 911 Center CPR award.

The whole story goes into his challenges. Nice inspirational story.

Let me let you in on a secret: I’m announcing my team of bloggers on Monday. Shh! Don’t tell anybody but everyone.

Daily Good News 43: Mother offers kind words, Woman donates bike, and Man receives help for car trouble

Let your Light Shine

A woman offers kinds words for parents who lost their child to war. This same woman lost a son so she’s been there:

“Our heartfelt condolences at this sad time. No words we say could ever ease your pain…”

Grandmother Carol has written this message 506 times. It signifies the number of servicemen and women killed in action since her own son, John, 31, met his death serving in Iraq.

She’s touched a couple of people and her and her husband have made many friends out of these people. Here’s a couple of examples of the gratefulness of the kind words:

Daily Good News 42: Woman leads team to save infant’s life; Man donates kidney

life_quotes_10

A woman leads a team of folks in saving the life of a six-month old girl. All of this happened during a flight:

When Gallahue arrived at the back, the baby, who was the same age as her grandson but much smaller, was unresponsive. That set her and a crew of people that had assembled on a wild 2-hour journey to revive the baby with CPR. Gallahue told The News she must have tried 10 different times to help the girl, Jasmine — who may have had an allergic reaction, but Gallahue didn’t know the exact problem. Others helped administer breathing and clear room on the plane for them to work.

“I knew I needed to be in control of the situation,” she said in a matter of fact but polite manner.

There’s also this:

But Gallahue knows the situation could have been a tragedy if she had not been on board. The plane was not equipped with the right equipment to resuscitate a baby, she said. She used a breathing apparatus she had brought.

“It was definitely a miracle I happened to be on that plane,” she said. “It was the miracle on (Flight) 1347.”

That’s great.

Next news is very local for me (not even an hour away and same area my grandparents live). A man is in need of a new kidney:

Wednesday Word: Finish Your Race

Another Wednesday Word. We’ll start with the video and then we’ll talk about it:

Good stuff, there. There’s a quote I’ve seen somewhere. Lord knows I don’t know the exact saying of it but I got the gist. A lot of times, when we quit, we don’t realize how close we are to finishing.

The father helping his son finish the race reminds me of Philippians 4:13. We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. This includes running our race. We have the ultimate resource: God. He can help us with anything. On our own, we’re not going to be able to do much. God knows this and He’s made Himself constantly available.
