Wednesday Word: Witnessing with love

Let me first say that this video has my tone of voice ALL OVER IT. This guy, Nate, was on point. Take a listen:

I mean, I ranted about this in my book. The end of the video was a little odd and leaves a mystery yet to be solved as that’s his last video to date.

I already talked about this in my book, like I said.

Nate said it. We should love people. Love the unsaved. That’s it. It really is. Jesus had to do the same thing. Everybody was unsaved and He loved all of us.

Wednesday Word: Made in God’s image

Here’s the video:

You know, I don’t have to talk about much.

I do want to go into how we are made in God’s image. The young lady didn’t hit on it.

It all starts with Adam. The Trinity was discussing how they wanted a creation to be in their image and likeness. The world has an interpretation of this. We look at the physical. But, God is not physical. He is not flesh. Yes, Jesus eventually came as God in the flesh. But, obviously, people had been around for a long time.

If you want to know how we are made in God’s image, we have to look at God’s first man. He created Adam out of dust, which always blows my freakin’ mind. Anyway, Adam was not alive until one particular action.

Wednesday Word: Limitless love

Wednesday Word is where I take a short sermon (typically no more than 10 minutes long) and post it here. Then, I add some commentary.

Here’s the video:

Limitless love.

That’s the beauty of God. He’s a perfect God. And yet, He does these things for imperfect people like you, me, and everybody else. Why? Shouldn’t God raise His own standard?

Wednesday Word: Do you have a Jonah spirit?

Yes another week of Wednesday Word is here. It’s been a very successful feature here at DALANEL. No reason to try to spice things up. If you’re new here, Wednesday Word is where I grab a short sermon from the internet; about no longer than 10 minutes long, and then I write some commentary.

Are ya ready?

Those of you that have been following this blog for several months now know what my Jonah spirit is: Lighting director of my church’s cantatas and plays. I don’t really want to do it, but I know I have to. In fact, I talked about such an event where I was swallowed by a “whale” that God sent.

Anyway, running away from what God wants us to do is rather foolish. Anything that God wants us to do, it’s for our benefit. God is God. He doesn’t need you. He would rather have you play a role, but, He’ll go to somebody else if need be. He may not always send a whale to bring you back.

Like the pastor said, let’s do a better job of embracing/accepting what God calls us to do.

Wednesday Word: Dealing with desire

New here? Wednesday Word is where I go grab a video of a short sermon and post it here with my thoughts. Sermons are usually less than 10 minutes, but no longer than 20. Here’s the video:

Andy hit it again. It’s something to really consider.

Ultimately, as the commandments say, we shouldn’t have envy or lust or whatever. But, we do have desires.

But, how can we tell if we’re breaking the commandments?

Wednesday Word: Watch what you eat

This may be my favorite word of all time. It’s also one of the shortest.

These are the times where we really need to evaluate ourselves. It was the perfect story. He said all there is to say.

Watch what you eat this week. If we’re so full of junk food…skittles…we lose our appetite for actual nourishment. Sometimes, it shows. Maybe you text while in church. For no reason. You’re just bored…or full. Or, for you football fans; you’re ready to go home to catch the game. You even consider not going to service if it means you could miss the long behind preview shows.

What are our bellies full of?

It’s not a diet either. You can’t just come into church for a few weeks and then go back to what you were eating before. It really is a lifestyle change. If you want a healthy spiritual life, you have to eat the right food all the time.

Wednesday Word can be a healthy snack for your spiritual life; but I can’t say this is something to live on. Go to church. Hear the word. Sing the songs. It’s for your benefit.

Live well.
