Three reasons why social media is awesome

I’m not even a social person and I still see the benefits of this stuff. What does that tell you? Anyway, here are some reasons why I really think social media is a good thing. There is always bad things in something, but social media great overall.

1. Stay in touch with people.

Well, duh. But, that cousin across the country. You two grew up together but then she moved away and now you use social media to stay in touch. If you’re on Facebook, you can play games together among other things.

2. Meet new people

Hey, it’s a really nice way to meet people. Okay, so social media sites tell you that you should only interact with people you know. In some ways, I actually think that’s important. Like, on Facebook where, if you fill out your profile, everybody you friend can know quite a bit about you. But, for Twitter users like me, people only know your name (if you reveal it) and not much else. So, it’s easier to friend someone or not. For me, I’ve met a lot of other writers and bloggers and Sixers fans so that’s cool.

3. Get news (quicker than the TV)

I use Facebook for one main reason: Keeping up with news about my favorite things. My feed is nothing but the pages I like and their updates. Same with Twitter, which really has a growing reputation for this, but it’s easy to keep up with the latest news to the point I generally don’t have to directly go to the news sites to find news. The news comes to me. I like that with my lazy behind.

List of Dares

I dare you to……

  • Tell her she looks fat in that dress AND the shoes
  • Stay in an elevator for a couple of hours staring intensely at whoever comes in
  • Tell a sports fan “it’s just a game”
  • Wear your shirt as pants. That’s what a skirt is anyway, right?
  • Eat snow that isn’t completely white
  • Run the field at a baseball game with a bunny costume on
  • Take candy from a baby, you heartless jerk
  • Lose an intense online game and not throw the computer or console out the window
  • Look at Meagan Good and not smile
  • Run the streets at night in a superhero costume of your choice
  • When an out of control Christian says “you’re going to hell!”, you respond “I thought I was there when I was talking to you” (some of my fellow Christians really need to calm down)
  • Create a second profile on social media and argue with yourself. Like, really extend it for days. Make sure you use different writing styles
  • Stare at every boob you see. Make it obvious.
  • Step on someone’s Jordan’s. (!!!!!)
  • Invite the housekeeper to join you and your partner…in whatever., Um, be careful with this one.
  • Make a sports team regret “kiss cam” if you should appear. I don’t know what to tell you. I’ll leave it up to you. Get creative.
  • Bring your favorite stuffed animal to that interview. For moral support.
  • Fold the clothes in the department store the way YOU want to
  • Pretend to be a biblical character. Maybe of opposite gender?
  • Text a random number not in your contacts. Make a new friend! Or whatever.
  • Play catch with your iPhone and your 3 year old cousin.
  • Skype/FaceTime someone and talk whenever they try to talk and be quiet when they are quiet. This could get you killed and this probably won’t last long if you’re dealing with someone who doesn’t take BS. Good luck!
  • Do everything on this list.

Things I collect

We all collect things, right? I mean….I guess? Well, here are some things I like grabbing just for the thrill. Now you know what to get me for my birthday. Now you know.

1. Comic books

Okay, so as a Spider-Man fan, this kind of seems natural. The only comic books I have are of Spider-Man, with Ultimate Spider-Man being my absolute favorite version of things. I’m really looking to get into all of the Ultimate comics (Fantastic Four and X-Men).

2. Mugs and cups

I collect mugs. I drink tea out of them and sometimes hot chocolate. I think a majority of them are of the Philadelphia 76ers. I also have some Spider-Man cups. I…I like Spider-Man.

3. Snow globes

I don’t actively collect these anymore, but I still have a nice group of them from the past. Some are glass; others are plastic. Most are small, a few are of decent size. I wouldn’t say anything is big.

Tuesday Testimony: A great healing

Uh, this is one of the longest testimonies I’ve posted. Actually, it probably is the longest one. But this person really knows how to tell a story and this moved me slightly so here we go:

I don’t know where to begin. The last time I had written a testimony was back in 2010 when my mother was first diagnosed with breast cancer. I had written a witness of how Jesus had taken us through that difficult time. That writing was the first and the last until now. Here I am now writing again to proclaim and testify that Jesus is truly alive.

When the year began, I remember thinking that this is the third year since the cancer and only two more years to go to be off the cancer medication, be cancer free and cross the five-year mark.

March: Another month of lists

Back in November of 2014, I dedicated this blog’s content to lists. I ranked stuffed. I talked about my life. I make lists about…things. So, that’s March for ya.

I will also post Tuesday Testimony and Dante’s Opinion. But, the list will take place of DGS.

If you want me to make a list of something (funny things said, favorite gifs, blogs I like, whatever) let me know. I don’t have all 31 days planned.
