Kindle Version of My Book Back On Market At Reduced Price!

I just talked to you about my goal of making an audiobook of my book. I also recently mentioned how I took my Kindle version down for some updating in terms of appearance. Well, as the title of the post would suggest, it’s over and done with. Good news, I was able to fix up some formatting issues and I have put the book back on the market. Also, instead of $4.99, it’s now $2.99.

Now, again, there’s the MatchBook program at Amazon. I’ll let the program tell you what they told me:

The Kindle MatchBook program offers customers who purchase, or have previously purchased, a print book from Amazon.com the option to purchase the Kindle version of that title for $2.99 or less. If you have a print version of your title and enroll the Kindle version in Kindle MatchBook you can earn a royalty from Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) based on the Promotional List Price (choose from $2.99, $1.99, $0.99, or free) for any Kindle MatchBook sale. Choose a Promotional List Price of $2.99, $1.99, $0.99, or free; as long as the price selected is at least 50% lower than the regular Digital List Price.

I set my book to free. So, if you buy the paper on Amazon.com, if you look for the same book on Kindle, they should be able to match the books for you and then you’ll be able to get the Kindle for free. My gift to you for buying one version. Buy one get one free sort of thing in my case.

So, either buy the Kindle version for $2.99, or buy the print at $10 and get Kindle for free. I’m going to post something ultimately describing how the various discounts for my books work. And of course, I have my page dedicated to all info about my book so check there if you want more details about anything. Until then, let me work on the audiobook. There’s no “MatchBook” type thing there as far as I can tell from Audible, but maybe there will be someday. If that day comes, you already know I’ll be all up in that.

Ew.

Audiobook Version of My Book On the Way

I finally caved in, you guys. I’ve been thinking about this for a while and I think I’m gonna give it a try. I’m going to make an audiobook of my book, Interpretations & Illustrations.

I did the research and I think I have what I need to make it work. I have a microphone with the little foam tip (in my research, this was key apparently to avoid sound distortion) but I haven’t tested it yet. I would think it would work out though. The only thing that’s been holding me back was who was doing the recording. I am. Mercy. As I said in the past, I feel like I’m the only one who truly understand my content. I can speak with the proper emotion and tone that I had when I first wrote it out. I’m just not comfortable with anybody else doing it. I’m not confident that the message I’m sending will still get through with someone else voicing.

Once again, I’m going with Amazon for the publishing. They control ACX. And by them, the book would be available through Audible, iTunes, and Amazon.com. So you should be able to find it.

Now, for some of you, maybe there’s some concern. There’s various characters in the book; both male and female. How will I voice them, and yet you know is talking? Well, most likely, I’m going to go with announcing who is speaking before they speak. Basically, I’m going to read what I wrote as I always mention who is about to speak before they speak.

When will it be ready? Good question. Since I have the tools to get it done, and since there’s nothing major involved in the process in terms of time consumption, I could realistically say before my birthday in July it would be done recording. Of course, you’ll know the exact date as I get closer to it. Lucky for me, I have a pretty short book with short chapters. I work on a chapter per week, and considering there’s 15 chapters, that’s almost four months of recording. So yeah, July could even be too much into the future.

I’m excited about what this all means for the book. I’ll be available electronically, paper, and audio. To get updates and info on my book, go the page simply labeled “My Book” which is under the “Who’s Dante” page.

Speaking of electronically, the Kindle version is still under construction. Sadly, my efforts to improve the quality of the book are proving to be futile. At least the price is cheap anyway. If I could make it free, I would. Wait…can it be free? I’ll see about that. Okay so, keep it here at DALANEL for future updates.

Also, have you made an audiobook? How’d it go? I’d love to hear your story.

Updates On My Book

Some recent developments have happened that I would think you would be interested in. I haven’t checked on the book on the publishing site dashboard in months. I decided to log on to check royalties and…well that’s it. Anyway, I was notified of a few changes they made for options on publishing.

First of all, they now give the option to go glossy cover or matte. I changed over to matte. So, yeah. I looked up glossy vs matte and, based on the several articles from professionals and every day people, I decided to go with it. If you prefer glossy…well…mm.

Now, when I first published the books separately, you got free distribution for the publisher site as well as Amazon.com. Nice. If you wanted to go beyond that, you had to pay. I paid for the books and got extra distribution for bookstores like Barnes and Noble as well as libraries and academic institutions. When I made the combined book, I didn’t do the extra distribution. But now, CreateSpace has made it free so I’m back, baby! Basically, this means you can find me just about anywhere. Keep in mind it may take a little while for things to filter out to embrace the new changes. Also keep in mind that books are printed once ordered so stuff like the matte will be updated; you won;t have to worry about getting a glossy cover.

As for the Kindle version, I noticed that the formatting was absolutely terrible. So, naturally I went in to change it. It is currently unavailable and will be back when I feel like it’s just right so who knows? Thank you for your patience. Heck, you better be patient if you don’t want a low quality book. I really should get myself a Kindle so I have some freaking idea of what stuff really looks like vs just using the little preview thing they have on the internet. Yeesh.

Oh, and I am looking into doing an audio version of it. Before it was like “maybe”. Now, the idea is growing on me. We’ll see. Project for 2014. Most likely going to be done with my voice vs hiring someone. I said this before (don’t remember if on this blog) that I feel like I can really sell my message. I don’t trust anyone else with my words. Downside is, like I know I’ve said here on the blog, is that I hate my voice. Either my hate for my voice or the desire to go audio will win a fierce battle in the next few months.

That’s it. For more stuff about my book, go to the page My Book to get links and forms of discounts for it. Thanks, and I love you unless you hate teddy bears.
