Dante’s Opinion: Should I Do Wrestling or Basketball?

Ah, as I ran into this question, I thought he was asking which was better. But…

So my favorite sport is basketball. I tried out for the team this year, but unfortunately I got cut. However, the coach offered me a position as the team’s manager. Before I tried out for basketball, I signed up for wrestling as a second option in the case that I got cut from basketball, but the thing is I have never wrestling before and I don’t really like it, but it’s the only other sport available in the winter season besides basketball.

But being the basketball team’s “manager” would be hella crappy. I couldn’t make the team, so the next best thing is to sit on the sideline and record the team’s stats and order jerseys and sh*t like that. I can’t play, so watching people play while I’m the “manager” would be demoralizing. On the other hand, wrestling is not my sport. I don’t like wrestling, I’m not necessarily a strong person, and it hurts.

So I’m at a dilemma: be the basketball team manager, still stay in contact with the coach and the team, but can’t play and sit on the sidelines, or be on the wrestling team and at least be on a team but I don’t like the sport.

What do I choose?

Thanks

Yeah, he’s stuck doing one of two evils. Remind you of anything? BUT ANYWAY…

My gut is basketball. Yeah, basketball is my favorite sport as well, but it’s more than that. It’s the principle of position. You get to be close to your sport. I think that’s the better move. It gives you an interesting perspective on things too.

Consider this crazy scenario: You’re sitting there keeping count of the stats and you’re watching the players. You notice things like patterns and ways to improve the team’s performance. You run this by the coaches. You present them the stats that you know about to back up your claim. “Oh you’re right” Boom. Coaching gig. (that’s why I said this is crazy)

Good News 59: Teen with down syndrome is hero on the court, woman donates $15k, and football fans unite

Hey, it’s time for another round of good news.

First we have a kid with Down syndrome become a hero on the court.

Grow, who has Down syndrome, had been a manager for the Bensalem boys basketball team for four years. But it’s what he did on senior night on the court that’s garnering all of the attention. Kevin got to play, and when he did, he made magic happen.

What kind of magic, you ask?

Kevin hit four 3-pointers in the last two minutes of the game to help beat Neshaminy 64-40.

Awesome!

Next, a woman donates $15,000 to three waitresses:

Over the weekend, three waitresses at a restaurant in Caledonia, Ill., each received a $5,000 tip from an anonymous woman — and two of the waitresses weren’t even serving her table.

If you follow the link, it’ll tell ya what they plan to do with the money.

Lastly, we have a fan of football. A 49ers fan was in the championship parade for the Seattle Seahawks. But there’s more to this story:

Tate reached out to the Seattle TV station following the parade, wanting to compliment the fellow Niner lover courageous enough to sport the enemy colors nehind enemy lines. She says she first merely hoped to give the teen “front-row seats in the new stadium on the 50-yard line.”

After connecting with the 15-year-old fan via social media and finding out he was living in shelters as a ward of the state, she started a gofundme account to gather donations for a trip to San Francisco.

Expecting just 49er fans to help, Tate says she has been touched by the flood of offers of help for the youngster via shelter, counseling and other assistance — especially from Seahawks fans.

It’s great to see sports fans come together beyond the game.

DALANEL Failed Experiments

At times, when you’re blogging and trying to figure out what’s going on and what works are doesn’t, you’ll stumble upon a few…not so good ideas. This list is four features that, I tried, but never got it up and running for one reason or another.

How Was Your Week?

Back when I made the mistake of trying to make this blog a comment driven blog, I had “How Was Your Week?” where I asked how your week went. The viewing was so bad for the four posts I did, not to mentioned no one responded, made this a failure in my eyes. Plus, I tried to talk about my week and that brings me back my growing belief that people don’t care to read about my life story. Would I ever bring it back? Hahahaha

Dante and Basketball

As soon as I announced that I would do this, I ended up reviving my sports blog. And so, this sports feature moved there. That’s pretty much why I stopped doing it here.
