Update: Accept Jesus

So you’re ready to make the greatest decision of your life? And yes, this is the smartest thing you can do. Accepting Jesus into your life is the best thing to do. I do want to say something though. It’s about what to expect when you first accept Jesus into your life. I just want you to know what you’re getting into. If you want to skip on ahead to the prayer, it’s at the bottom of the page.

There are many positives to accepting Jesus. For one thing, you now have eternal life. What you need to understand is, as an unsaved person, you are spiritually dead. Why? Jesus took our sinful lives to die on the cross so that we may have new life in Him. And the thing with Jesus’ life: it never dies. His spirit lives on forever and, if we accept Jesus, that spirit now lives in us.

Make sure you understand that Jesus died and took the ultimate punishment for us. Just like we are so grateful that the fireman saved us from the fire. But then, he died while getting you to safety. You were supposed to burn, but the fireman took your place. It’s basically the same thing with Jesus. You were supposed to be on that cross; but Jesus loved you enough to say that he would die for all of us so that we can live.

Wednesday Word: Do you have a Jonah spirit?

Yes another week of Wednesday Word is here. It’s been a very successful feature here at DALANEL. No reason to try to spice things up. If you’re new here, Wednesday Word is where I grab a short sermon from the internet; about no longer than 10 minutes long, and then I write some commentary.

Are ya ready?

Those of you that have been following this blog for several months now know what my Jonah spirit is: Lighting director of my church’s cantatas and plays. I don’t really want to do it, but I know I have to. In fact, I talked about such an event where I was swallowed by a “whale” that God sent.

Anyway, running away from what God wants us to do is rather foolish. Anything that God wants us to do, it’s for our benefit. God is God. He doesn’t need you. He would rather have you play a role, but, He’ll go to somebody else if need be. He may not always send a whale to bring you back.

Like the pastor said, let’s do a better job of embracing/accepting what God calls us to do.

Wednesday Word: Loving Money

Hey, so, as most of you know, I wrote a book. This is one of the chapters from my book. At the end, you have the option of watching the episode from the video series covering the book. This will be the Wednesday Word for the day.

When we look at money, we think that it’s the only way to function in this world. And yes, we need money to pay for the bills, food, a place to live in and other things. Because of the importance of money, we can end up looking at money as our life line. We start to idolize money. We start thinking money can buy peace and happiness and ultimate success.

That’s just not true.

One of the famous miss-quotes of the Bible is “Money is the root of all evil” Before I explain what the actual saying is; let’s go over how this is wrong. For one thing, God wants us to prosper here on earth, even though our time here is short. While God doesn’t need money, He understands how the world works and is able to supply His children with the resources to survive. And since money is a big necessity, he gives us what we need.

There is no reason why you would have to believe that money is the root of all evil when God himself encourages us to get it.

So then what’s the correct saying?

As I said, November is the month of change. In this month, I’m experimenting with things. Not drugs. Not anymore. No, I’m working on this blog. I’m going to skip Daily Good Stuff for a few days and give Daily Good News the keys as the only morning post. I wanna see how the blog performs like this. I don’t know how long this will last but, DGS will return at some point.

And so, let’s get through today’s good news and such.

Faith in God, not the Government

If you’ve been following this blog, or if you’ve followed me at all, then you kinda knew this post was coming.

I follow politics. I rarely discuss them. I don’t have a party; I just vote on the best solution to the issue. Race and/or gender doesn’t matter to me.

Okay, got that out of the way. Let’s talk about recent events. I’m sure you heard the US government shutdown. I’m not going to talk about who is right or wrong. I am going to talk about why this shutdown doesn’t phase me…that much.

My faith is in God, who is on control of everything. He will make sure I survive this mess. Not to say this shutdown will kill us all, but, I know there are some people who are scared. Scared because the government has shut down and things are uncertain.

Don’t get me wrong. The government is important. Very important. The Bible calls Christians to pray for our government and to follow their lead. I’m no rebel and I do care for my government. I think it’s a shame this has happened. People have lost their jobs…but the bills won’t stop.

But we have to trust God. Not just during the hard times but for the good too. So, to keep this post short, pray for this nation. Pray that both sides will come to a sensible agreement. We need to get out of this and the leaders of this country need to follow God’s way.

Trusting God is smart. He will never let His people down. In the worst of times, He’s looking out for His own. So, while we need our government, let’s never forget who is in complete control. Also, really take a look at the related articles too as they help with my message. I didn’t use them, but, I ran into them after I was done.
