Blog Updates: Instagram and Weekly Content

Hey.

HEY.

HEY!

Just really quick, I wanna share a couple of tweaks that I’m making.

Instagram

Instagram is interesting. My blog is connected to Instagram, so when I post here, it automatically goes over there. The problem I’m facing is links are essentially broken when I do this, so someone can’t follow the link to see the entire post. They basically see the featured image and the name of the title.

With that said, I’m going to eliminate Instagram from automatic sharing for my blog. It works fine for Threads so my content will continue to land over there. I’ve also noticed that Threads overall gives me more engagement than IG overall so that’s something I’m keeping an eye on.

But this also means, I would like to produce content for Instagram. Now that Threads has…”exclusive” content, I’d like for my IG followers to have something. And I think that means I’m going to look into reels more since that seems to be more popular than regular IG posts.

Weekly Content

Okay, so when I relaunched, I kept going with the Weekly Optimism and Weekly Funnies. I looked at the posts for both of these titles and I was left dissatisfied. I feel like both posts are too short. So, I came to two possible conclusions.

  1. I can just make each type of content longer.
  2. I can combine them into one bigger type of post.

I debated this for a while but I ultimately decided to just combine the two. I think it would make for easier reading and it would make it easier to create. It would ultimately be a weekly version of what Daily Good Stuff used to be.

I can’t tell you it’s going to be called “Weekly Good Stuff” (not feeling it anyway). But I’m not sure I still love Weekly Optimism because now there’s more in there. Can humor still be counted as something positive or optimistic? So I need to figure that out.

I don’t mean to brag but…DALANEL is pretty awesome

You don’t hear this enough from me but…it’s time to get a little cocky.

This blog…this blog is pretty darn awesome. Sexy. Sophisticated. Wonderful.

I’ve put in a lot of work to make this happen. And it’s paying off. I get more and more comments about how “nice” this blog is. I know. I’ve been known. Word of mouth? I don’t know. I do know that more and more viewers are appearing. More and more followers are walking in club DALANEL.

I’ve established a team of bloggers here. I’ve set the tone of posts. Monday Motivation. It’s my way to encourage you and even me. Dante’s Opinion? Maybe a little self centered, although my opinions are on interesting topics for the most part.

Wednesday Word. It’s turning into my darling feature. It’s seen some nice success in the “like” department and Wednesday has been my most successful day on the blog for months now. Thank God.

Thoughts on Wednesday Word and being a Christian blogger

Wednesday Word has been a good success. It consistently gets likes and is even one of the top liked posts of all time. I’m really excited about this because this was a post I had been putting off for almost a year now.

So, what happens now? Well, the video and my commentary remains. I’m not doing anything to it. I just wanted to talk about it a little bit.

Wednesday word is really the only thing on this blog that shows off my “religious” side. Sure, I have the “Accept Jesus” page and I’ve shared my book with you which is entirely Christian themed. Still, I didn’t have a feature that gave off that type of vibe. In my Daily Good Stuff posts, I did always share a scripture. That was it.

I used to have a Christian blog, which was suppose to be a continuation of my book in a sense. But, I ended up just pulling it into this blog.

This blog is a positive themed blog and, I can’t necessarily say that this also means that it’s a religious blog. I can’t say they go hand in hand, ya know?

So, does Wednesday Word have a place in this blog? Does Christian blogging have a place in this blog? Did I make a mistake?

Page Updates: Code of Conduct, What Is DALANEL?

images blog update

I made a slight update to my Code of Conduct page. It’s under the What Is DALANEL page. You need to be familiar with it if you intend on commenting on posts here at DALANEL. I’m not even kidding because if you get yourself banned, the challenge of “I didn’t know” will NOT fly by me. I’m a laid back type of guy but I will not tolerate foolishness. Here’s a bullet list found of the page of what I just won’t do:

  • Name calling
  • Disrespecting others’ beliefs and comments
  • Commenting only to promote your site/business
  • Keep the language clean. No cussing (I am open about this and using this language will not automatically result in trouble; keep it to a minimum though; I want this site to be kid friendly)

That’s right. Follow this and you live.

Next, What Is DALANEL? That page got a major new look. Gone is the video and my life story. As I said, my personal life will be limited. The page now contains what this blog is about (duh) on a much more simpler scale. It also aims to be better related or complementary to the sub pages under it too.

ICYMI: Read Team DALANEL’s first posts

Team DALANEL made their debuts this past week. Let’s recap as I share some of my thoughts on each post.

First, Dallas T took over Dante’s Opinion for the week as she answered a question.

The article is here. I’m not going to copy and paste all she said. Basically, there was a friend with a dilemma: Her friend made one of those comments where you get the sense they were just talking for attention. The friend tried to investigate the situation but was met with a brick wall.

Dallas ultimately said to give said person their own space and, if the person is ready to let you in, then he/she will. I can agree with that. Maybe she used that tweet as a means of venting but, didn’t want to actually talk about it. Or, perhaps she talked to someone else about it. Or, like I said, it was just a ploy for attention. If I were in that situation, I would probably say what Dallas said: “You know you can talk to me about anything and i’ll be here for you.” Indeed, that’s sometimes the best we can do.

Meet the Team of Bloggers: Dallas and Nia

As promised, I have assembled a fantastic team of bloggers for DALANEL. I have a page called Meet the Team which is under What Is DALANEL?. There, you’ll be able to keep up with them. That page is filled with bios for each of them and links to their content on the site as well as social media accounts so you can follow them too. Right now, the page is slightly bare. I wrote out bios for them but, in the near future, they should have something up to represent themselves so the page will grow over time. I’m just going to give a brief preview of each person.

First, Dallas T. makes a return. She’s 17. My cousin. And, quite frankly, she’s like a sister to me as well. We talked about it and while she won’t be contributing often, she’ll be around. She ran a blog for a little bit but she’s not really into that all that much. Still, there’s some great content there. I think she has a great mind if only because she and I think alike fairly often. I would hope she can take a few Dante’s Opinion posts for me. It would be Dallas’ Opinion of course. Follow her on Twitter.

Next is Nia. This is the same Nia that helped me with the lighting for the cantata. At 11, she’s an aspiring journalist. She wants to be the best. This is her first blogging experience. I don’t know if this will be the start of a wonderful career for her but make sure you show your support. Even as kids, people can do great things. I’m excited to see what she brings to the table. I’m hoping that her journalistic heart can help me with the Daily Good News in terms of research and even posting. Don’t be surprised to see this young one pack a punch. She speaks her mind and is honest and that’s one of the things I love about her. Nia’s on Google+ so add her in your cutest blogger circle.

Ah yes, this is gonna be fun.
