DALANEL Stats

I always like to give you a behind the scenes access to DALANEL. Normally, I talk about views and followers. But, and you know this if you run a WordPress blog, there’s more to talk about.

On Tuesday, DALANEL had its best day of views. It was incredible because this is coming off of two bad weeks in a row for the blog and two days after I mentioned the setback. What was interesting about it was that most of my referrers were from Pinterest. If I’m not mistaken, this was the first time I ever got anything from Pinterest. And so I took a look at my referrers from all time and I was right.

The top post from that day was Daily Good Stuff 77. I looked at the post. It wasn’t a special themed post. It was just a standard post. And yet it took over 60% of the views. What made it special? I don’t know.

But then, on Wednesday, I had an even BETTER day. What was interesting about it was that it performed similar to Tuesday. Two great days in a row after two weeks of crap.

Now that we’ve talked about the best day ever, let’s look at the site’s entire history.

DALANEL Suffers Setback

DALANEL saw its greatest day and month in July. And August started out poised to make a run for July’s money. But, a couple of weeks ago, DALANEL stopped growing.

It’s bleeding and I can’t stop it.

A few days while in my current dry spell, I made drastic changes to the blog. The theme was changed, new features like Weekly News and Weekly Funnies appeared, and it seemed like things would pick up.

Nope.

Oddly enough, I still continue the streak of getting at least one new follower per week. The following still grows but viewing is so bad. So very, very bad. Now, I’ve said before that I would still be blogging even if nobody was reading so that’s not the concern. The concern is what can I do to bring people back?

DALANEL Updates

I have some exciting updates for the blog. My two summer series, Breaking Down the Book and The Face Off are coming to an end soon. And after that, the only thing to look forward to is Daily Good Stuff. And while that is…good stuff, I figured you need more than that.

So here’s what I’m gonna do.

I am relaunching two series. Weekly Funnies is making a comeback! Also, Weekly News is here. Now, Weekly is an improved Good Friday post. Good Friday posts was the latest good news tat were posted on Friday. How original. With Weekly News, you get the latest weird, funny, good, and even more!

This Blog Sucks, But, It’s Getting Better

Numbers don’t lie! This blog isn’t doing very well. It’s been here for 2 years. 2 years. And I just got over 1,000 views. The best day has been 21 views in a day. This blog sucks. Before I did this overhaul, I had about 30 posts by October 2012. Jesus.

So now what? Well, the blog is starting to perform better. I have a lot more followers than before but I’m less than 20 so…yeah. Of course, factor my Twitter following and Facebook likes and I have over 200. Not bad. While this blog is bad, the numbers are pointing in an upward direction.

Yay.

Part of the reason, really, it’s the biggest reason, is that I’ve been blogging more consistently. Any successful blog strives on consistency. Back when this blog was known as Dante’s Opinion, I was posting just a few times per month. My aim with DALANEL is to post a few times per week.

Having constant posts is key. I also think variety is key. That’s why I have Weekly Funnies and Good Friday posts. That’s why I invited Dallas to blog.

Actually, let me explain Dallas T a little more.
