Don’t Forget About the Lonely Folks This Holiday Season

Real quick.

Technically, this should be an all year theme, but, at least for the holidays, please…please…don’t forget about the lonely people.

There are plenty out there that have no family. They will be spending this holiday season alone. The family doesn’t have to be permanently gone. Someone may be on a business trip. Hey, Black Friday starts on Thursday now-a-days. Corporate doesn’t care.

Main point is, there will be higher rates of depression. Suicide jumps.

What can you do? Well, you can always keep them in your prayers. If you know people that will be on their own, perhaps invite them to your table.

And, if you’re reading this and feeling down and out of it, I want to personally let you know that I’m going to say a prayer for your mental health and strength.

People, we can’t forget about the reality of this…situation.

That’s all I wanted to say.

Daily Good News 38: Seven Year Old Donates $750, Six Year Old Saves Life

motivational-quotes-4

A 7 year old leads a charge to donate to a family that is supported by a woman’s shelter.

By the end of the year Kathryn had saved more than $54. “We thought that Halton Women’s Place in Burlington would be excellent (to donate to),” wrote John. “In late November we found out about the program that HWP offers whereby you can sponsor a family who needs it the most.”

Healey’s Allstate office team wanted to contribute to what his daughter had started. “Through passion and dedication we were able to cover off all of the requests on the family’s list,” he wrote. In the end, the effort raised a donation of $750 to the family supported by the shelter.

Good job, Kathryn!

Next, a little boy jumps out of a moving car to save his grand father’s life. Not kidding:

Sullivyn Vedaa and his grandfather Ronald were driving to a relatives home for Christmas dinner on Wednesday night when Ronald went into diabetic shock.  Sullivyn, who was sitting in the backseat of Ronalds Chrystler 300 noticed his grandfather acting strangely and very sleepy.  When Sullivyn realized Ronald was not responsive, he decided to jump out of the moving vehicle and run to the nearest house to call for help.

Yeah…there’s your action movie star right there!

Did I mention that kids are awesome? Because, they kind of are.

Daily Good News 35: Jesus Is Born

You can’t possibly be surprised I went this road, are you? This is one of the best things to happen to the world. Not all of you agree with me, and perhaps are seriously considering hitting the backspace button. That’s fine, but, if you don’t know the story of Christmas, at least read this story.

Ah yes, Jesus being born is good news for all of us. It was the start of a plan to save us all from hell. Sounds good to me. Again, hit the link if you haven’t. I’ll leave you with this:

Christmas Miracle: Virgin olive oil found to be pregnant

Branch with olives and a bottle of olive oil isolated on whiteWhen homeowners Kurt and Elizabeth walked into their kitchen, they were not expecting their usually skinny bottle of virgin olive oil to have a bump just below the mid section.

“I didn’t understand it.”, said Elizabeth as she held her husband’s hand tight with one hand while wiping a tear with the other. “I looked at Kurt and I could tell we were thinking the same thing: We have to get this checked out. So we went to a doctor. I was so anxious. Was it a tumor? Were we going to lose our little…”

Elizabeth ended up sobbing before finishing the quote.

The rest, as they say, is history. Doctors confirmed that the bottle of virgin olive oil was indeed pregnant.

“I couldn’t believe it. I just couldn’t believe it. I’ve seen a lot of corny Christmas stories about some ridiculous miracle. Never thought I’d be a part of it.” said Kurt as he was in the local hardware store looking for paint for the nursery.

The bottle’s identity is being kept a secret because the story’s author doesn’t want to single a brand of olive oil out. It said that an angel told it…or her…her that this would happen.

“Kurt had just finished pouring some of me on some meat; I think it was for spaghetti, and then there she was. A beautiful angel had come to tell me I would be with child. Here I am, a virgin, about to conceive. I never even had the talk!”

Companies and brands like Ripley’s Believe It or Not are reported to be in constant communication with the family concerning endorsements and even a sitcom on NBC.

When asked when the baby would be due, the oil said “any day now” while some how rubbing her belly with no hands. The bottle also denied an appearance on the Maury Povich show saying that she “ain’t got no baby daddy.”
