Fearless Friday: Taking on a burning bus

When an elderly woman was trapped on a burning bus a bunch of people sprang into action. They fought the blaze with water and fire extinguishers. Ultimately, a man, one of the local shop owners, went into the bus and pulled the elderly woman out.

We don’t know the cause of the fire at this time.

It’s a Fearless Friday simply because the man went into the flames to save the woman. There’s video of the entire thing, including him going into the bus. He was later interviewed and essentially brushed it off saying that anybody in his situation would do the same thing. If he were on the bus, people would do the same thing to save him. “It’s natural”.

Powerful words. That’s how society should be. In the face of chaos, we should be trying to help people because it’s natural. What a world to live in.

Fearless Friday: Teen Girls Save Man’s Life

A couple of best friends saw a man was in need of CPR and they jumped on the case.

It was about 9 p.m. Nicole Enick pulled over in the parking lot of the McDonald’s off Marine Drive NE. The girls noticed a man in a nearby car wasn’t moving. The man’s friends were gathered around, shaking him and dumping cold water on him. Others were standing around, watching.
Hailey and Jasmine knew what to do. The Everett High School freshmen had recently taken CPR training from their health teacher, Darrell Olson.

Yes, the girls did what they were told in school.

From class, they knew not to stop, Hailey said. After about five minutes, the man started gasping for air. Hailey’s little sister, Meleah, 11, watched it all take place. A few minutes later, police and paramedics arrived and took over. One of the police officers on scene told the girls the man wouldn’t have made it without their CPR, Hailey said. They believed the man, who appeared to be in his 30s, had a drug overdose.

This last quote from mom is sadly true.

“We’re so proud of her,” Nicole Enick said. “I’m so amazed. She was 14 and she was able to keep herself together. You never expect people at a young age to be able to do something like that. Other people just look away.”

Can we change that? Let’s change that.

Fearless Friday: Man is Attacked by knife-wielding thief; Son retaliates

I love it when good stories happen close by to where I live. Okay, no exactly close, but it sure ain’t far.

A man was attempting to rob somebody using a knife. He (Vazquez) demanded money and actually cut the guy. Next thing you know, the son of the victim pushes Vazquez and Mr. V-man runs off. But, the son isn’t done yet. He then proceeds to take down the license plate number.

Vaquez is in jail now.

Fearless Friday: Community Hero Day

Well here’s something interesting. A day to celebrate the heroes of your town.

Collin’s Community Hero Day is a free event supporting heroes in New Richmond. This is an opportunity for your children to meet the Police, EMS, Fire & Armed Service workers in your community.

This is a day for the kids and their families to get that up close and personal look at what these folks do. But, there’s another side to this story:

The money raised during the event goes into a fund set up in Collin’s name. That money is then given to financially support public safety personnel in the days that immediately follow a traumatic call.

“Many of us feel an obligation to quickly return to work due to money reasons,” Albee said. “We provide a stipend of cash to go for stuff like buying groceries, paying some bills so the emergency responders can take a few days to recover and be with family. Collin’s fund also donates money to programs such as Project Life Saver and other already established programs that aim at helping us help people.”

We gotta do more of that. Don’t our heroes deserve that?

Fearless Friday: Teen saves officer while under arrest

Hey, not all (alleged) criminals are monsters. Jamal Rutledge was in the process of being booked for a crime, when his booking officer collapsed. Jamal, handcuffed at the time, alerted other officers.

The officer received CPR and should be fine. Meanwhile, this is what happened to Jamal:

Det. DeAnna Greenlaw told ABC News that the department hopes the young man, who will receive a life-saving award later this month, will use the incident to make a positive change in his life.

“We wanted to make sure we commended him for making the right decision,” Greenlaw said. “We wanted to make a positive impact on him and his vision of police officers.”

Terrific. Hit the link for more info and a cool group photo.

DALANEL Continues to Fight for Good

DALANEL has always been a weapon of mine to counter the negativity of the world. I try to bring a positive spin to the world.

Currently, these are the ways I attack:

  • Monday Motivation
  • Tuesday Testimony
  • Wednesday Word
  • Thursday Thoughts
  • Fearless Friday

Each post provides a unique spin on things. I create Monday Motivations on my own. Testimonies, Thoughts, and Fearless are outsourced. Wednesday Word is a combination of the two.

I’ve spent years molding this blog and its features to carry this vision. I will continue to. The idea that I’m making an impact is a good one. 1,600 people can’t be wrong, right? That’s how many people follow this blog. Google+, Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, WordPress, Email, and LinkedIn. Many people, many backgrounds. But, they can appreciate what is going on here.

I’m hardly the only site with the same purpose in mind. However, I’m pretty sure I’m the only guy doing it the way I am.

I recently read a story of a girl, with the help of her little sister, who killed their older brother. He locked her in a closet. Apparently, this is what the parents did to punish her. The parents had left, and big brother was in charge. His sister…I GUESS, needed to be disciplined and big bro did what he saw his parents do. Lock her up.
