Daily Good Stuff 218

I have to start this post with some fantastic news. Yesterday, DALANEL set another record for viewing. It was extremely bizarre. For one thing, in just five minutes, the viewing spiked up dramatically. I’d say it increased 3-4 times where it was before. I thought it was a glitch, especially since the past few days were a little quiet. But no. As some of your other WordPress users can testify, I got a little notification from WordPress saying that “Your stats are booming!”. That’s the second ever time I got that message and I took it as this strange burst of views was legit.

So, here we are. I now have to figure out if there’s any way to repeat this because if I can, then this blog takes a bigger…a major step, in the “successful blog” category. And that’s alright with me. Thanks to all who stopped by yesterday; you were part of something great.

Also, I’m just a few followers from 800.

And now, to the post.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Daily Good Stuff 205

I promised you an announcement yesterday. Here it is: Daily Good Stuff is coming back to the weekend. Yes, Saturday and Sunday will have DGS posts once again. So, what about Weekly News and Weekly Funnies? They’ll stay right where they are.

But, right now, it’s Wednesday and we’ve got some good stuff to look at.

The first step toward success is taken when you refuse to be a captive of the environment in which you first find yourself. Mark Caine

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.” Matthew 7:24-27

Thank you! I always wondered about that. The amount of castles I’ve gone through is unforgivable!

Weekly Funnies 21

One day at a busy airport, the passengers on a commercial airliner are seated, waiting for the cockpit crew to show up so they can get under way.

The pilot and co-pilot finally appear in the rear of the plane, and begin walking up to the cockpit through the center aisle. Both appear to be blind. The pilot is using a white cane, bumping into passengers right and left as he stumbles down the aisle, and the co-pilot is using a guide dog.  Both have their eyes covered with huge sunglasses. At first the passengers do not react; thinking that it must be some sort of practical joke.  However, after a few minutes the engines start spooling up and the airplane starts moving down the runway.

The passengers look at each other with some uneasiness, whispering among themselves and looking desperately to the stewardesses for reassurance.  Then the airplane starts accelerating rapidly and people begin panicking.

Some passengers are praying, and as the plane gets closer and closer to the end of the runway, the voices are becoming more and more hysterical.  Finally, when the airplane has less than 20 feet of runway left, there is a sudden change in the pitch of the shouts as everyone screams at once, and at the very last moment the airplane lifts off and is airborne.

Up in the cockpit, the co-pilot breathes a sigh of relief and turns to the Captain, “You know, one of these days the passengers aren’t going to scream and we’re gonna get killed!”

Daily Good Stuff 200: The Best of DGS 2

You knew this was coming. If you didn’t, let me talk about it a little. I take my favorite parts from previous DGS and combine into a grand feature. The first time I did it, it was 1-99. Today, 101-199. It’ll follow the same as the first one. My favorite five of these:

  • Quote
  • Scripture
  • Image
  • Video
  • Joke
  • Weird/Funny news
  • Good/Positive news

So, with that in mind, let’s get started!

“My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:12-13
He answered: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind’; and, ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.'” Luke 10:27
This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 1 John 4:9
Now Daniel so distinguished himself among the administrators and the satraps by his exceptional qualities that the king planned to set him over the whole kingdom. At this, the administrators and the satraps tried to find grounds for charges against Daniel in his conduct of government affairs, but they were unable to do so. They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and neither corrupt nor negligent. Finally these men said, “We will never find any basis for charges against this man Daniel unless it has something to do with the law of his God.” Daniel 6:3-5
The God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Peter 5:10
