Don’t Forget About the Lonely Folks This Holiday Season

Real quick.

Technically, this should be an all year theme, but, at least for the holidays, please…please…don’t forget about the lonely people.

There are plenty out there that have no family. They will be spending this holiday season alone. The family doesn’t have to be permanently gone. Someone may be on a business trip. Hey, Black Friday starts on Thursday now-a-days. Corporate doesn’t care.

Main point is, there will be higher rates of depression. Suicide jumps.

What can you do? Well, you can always keep them in your prayers. If you know people that will be on their own, perhaps invite them to your table.

And, if you’re reading this and feeling down and out of it, I want to personally let you know that I’m going to say a prayer for your mental health and strength.

People, we can’t forget about the reality of this…situation.

That’s all I wanted to say.

Daily Good Stuff 237: Mom’s Birthday

So, I haven’t done this in a long time but, I promised myself I would do my mom’s birthday. Already did me and my two sisters and dad. Last member of the fam is mom. In case you don’t know, Daily Good Stuff is a collection of quotes, scripture, funny videos, funny images, jokes, weird/funny news, positive/good news, holidays, and interesting facts.

Even though I stopped doing these posts, views show that DGS remains a top viewed post. Out of my top 20 viewed posts, DGS is in ten spots. Weekly Funnies posts take up three other spots. You clearly like funny stuff but that’s simply not my focus anymore. Should I bring it back? Probably, if I want explosive views. Will I bring it back? Not likely.

It’s a themed post of course so things will be birthday related.

It’s been a while; hope I still got it.

You know you’re getting old when the candles cost more than the cake. Bob Hope

Daily Good News 35: Jesus Is Born

You can’t possibly be surprised I went this road, are you? This is one of the best things to happen to the world. Not all of you agree with me, and perhaps are seriously considering hitting the backspace button. That’s fine, but, if you don’t know the story of Christmas, at least read this story.

Ah yes, Jesus being born is good news for all of us. It was the start of a plan to save us all from hell. Sounds good to me. Again, hit the link if you haven’t. I’ll leave you with this:

Isaiah9-6

Have a great day.

Dante’s Opinion: Why do I feel embarrassed when taking the bus?

So, the first question is from Johnny:

Why do I feel embarrassed when taking the bus? I seriously feel a ‘little’ embarrassed when I take it. Any ideas why I could feel like this? I’m 21. I was heading to the Dmv actually to make a date for my driving test.

Well, maybe you think taking the bus is “beneath” you. Or, maybe you are dreading how people may look at you because of their same attitude towards the bus: It’s beneath them. And maybe it’s not even “embarrassed”. Maybe it’s more nervous.

Daily Good Stuff 231: Thanksgiving

You knew this themed post was coming. Shame on you if you didn’t. FOR SHAME. Haha I still love you. Before I start, I just want to say something important and serious. There are people that dread this holiday and Christmas. Mainly because they are alone. Be kind to a stranger today. Offer a smile. You don’t have to get up in somebody’s face like some freak. Just remember that this is one of the worst times of the year for some.

Okay, now, let’s get to the post.

Thanksgiving was never meant to be shut up in a single day. Robert Caspar Lintner

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18

We gotta survive, right? It’s just a shame that the turkey was picked as the bird, ya know? I have a transcript of what possibly happened that day:

Daily Good Stuff 213: Halloween

Halloween. Now, let’s just start this off by saying I don’t celebrate this holiday. After doing research on it, I have determined that this is something I can’t honestly back. However, I love candy. Also, I still think today can be fun. For instance, my church used to have a party on the 31st called “Harvest Fest” where you dressed up as Bible characters and played games. There was a contest…a costume contest, that was done every year. The last year we ever did the Harvest Fest, I won the costume contest. I was Moses and I had these big tablets for the ten commandments. The kicker was that I was one of three Moses’ there so I when I won, I really won. On Friday, I hope there’s plenty of weird news of trick-or-treat incidents. Wouldn’t that be swell?
