Daily Good Stuff 218

I have to start this post with some fantastic news. Yesterday, DALANEL set another record for viewing. It was extremely bizarre. For one thing, in just five minutes, the viewing spiked up dramatically. I’d say it increased 3-4 times where it was before. I thought it was a glitch, especially since the past few days were a little quiet. But no. As some of your other WordPress users can testify, I got a little notification from WordPress saying that “Your stats are booming!”. That’s the second ever time I got that message and I took it as this strange burst of views was legit.

So, here we are. I now have to figure out if there’s any way to repeat this because if I can, then this blog takes a bigger…a major step, in the “successful blog” category. And that’s alright with me. Thanks to all who stopped by yesterday; you were part of something great.

Also, I’m just a few followers from 800.

And now, to the post.

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14

Daily Good Stuff 217: Veterans Day

Today is a really nice day. Just about all of us know somebody that has served in the armed forces. So, this post is for all of the veterans out there.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Ephesians 6:10-17

But the freedom that they fought for, and the country grand they wrought for,
Is their monument to-day, and for aye. Thomas Dunn English

Weekly Funnies 24

Another round up of some funny stuff on the web. Are you ready? I can’t hear you! No, really, I can’t. Sorry.

At Sunday School they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings. Little Johnny, a child in the Kindergarten class, seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam’s ribs.

Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and asked, “Johnny, what is the matter?”

Little Johnny groaned and responded , “I have a pain in my side. I think I’m going to have a wife.”

My laptop or WordPress is struggling with photos today so darn it darn it darn it.

Daily Good Stuff 216: New Features Emerge

Alright so it’s been a whole week. But, we’re back and ready for more action. We’re going to go through the same lineup as usual and then the two new features will round out the post.

Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God. Consequently, he who rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves. Romans 13:1-2 (NIV)

I gotta imagine it’s not that comfortable, right? It probably would’ve been cooler if he took the entire game system outside and had an extension cord and such. Heck, hook it up to a generator. But I ain’t mad at cha!

I was not prepared for this. If you haven’t seen this before, you might not see this coming either.

Yikes. Where in the heck is that place!? Up next, a video. Now that Halloween is over, it’s time to move on. But, what if your kid still wants to wear the costume? Welp:
Well…that wasn’t very helpful, was it?
One bright, beautiful Sunday morning, everyone in the tiny town of Johnstown got up early and went to the local church. Before the service started, the townspeople were sitting in their pews and talking about their lives, their families, etc.

Suddenly, the Devil himself appeared in front of the congregation. Everyone started screaming and running for the front entrance, trampling each other in a frantic effort to get away from evil  incarnate.

Soon everyone was evacuated from the church except for one elderly gentleman who sat calmly in his pew, not moving, seemingly oblivious to the fact that God’s ultimate enemy was in his presence.

Now this confused Satan a bit, so he walked up to the man and said, “Don’t you know who I am?”

The man replied, “Yep, sure do.”

Satan asked “Aren’t you afraid of me?”

“Nope, sure ain’t,” said the man.

Satan was a little perturbed at this and queried, “Why aren’t you afraid of me?”

The man calmly replied, “I been married to your sister for 48 years.”

Yup, just as I figured, there is some Halloween themed news. There was a drug bust. Four pounds of cocaine. Where was it? In a couple of pumpkins…in the airport…yeah.

Border agents found a spooky Halloween surprise Thursday in three pumpkins someone tried to smuggle through the Montreal airport, authorities said — about four pounds of suspected cocaine.

The pumpkins were hollowed out, filled with about 2 kilograms of white powder in bags and recapped, the Canada Border Services Agency said. They were being transported Thursday morning by a suspect authorities would identify only as a female traveler arriving at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport.

Take a look at the whole story if you want.

Boy, these are some of my favorite good news. A bus driver, while crossing a bridge, noticed a woman was ready to jump off and end it all. He pulls over, hops out, and talks the woman out of it. What’s better, the bus’ camera captured the whole thing. Awesome. Hit the link to see the video.

And that’s it for today. Thanks for stopping by.
