Monday Motivation: Get more organized

Sometimes, life can get a little overwhelming if you’re not careful. I encourage you to take control of your schedule. Get more organized. It might mean you gotta cut some things out. Set your priorities, ya know?

For me and a writing perspective, I gotta get more organized and think about where I’m going. I got my struggles with my book and publishing platform. I’m a writer for multiple sites. Is that too many for me when included with other things in my life?

That’s what this month is mainly for. Me getting a chance to refocus on the writing that’s important to me instead of just writing to write.

Maybe that’s your story. Maybe you’ve been meaning to start or continue a project, but can’t seem to get the details together. Sit down. Set some time aside. Figure out a gameplan. Don’t worry about how long it takes; just make sure you know it’s going to get done. Organize your thoughts on it, instead of being some fleeting thought like “Yeah, I gotta do that sometime”. Let’s work on getting there now.

Monday Motivation: Stay Optimistic

I’ve had just about enough of the shootings, and I think you can agree. I found myself barely reacting with the Charleston church shooting last week. Isn’t that sad? I live in a world where violence is the norm and it’s tired.

I had to shake off that despair and write this post. Stay optimistic. Keep your head up about the world. I can only tell you that there is good in this world. I ain’t gonna try to say “it ain’t bad” because it is. But, there is good.

Only you can control how you feel by controlling what you see and hear. Stay away from the 6 o’clock news for a minute and visit a good news website. Get a different perspective or you’ll turn cynical. You don’t want that.

Stay optimistic. But also, and I know you’ve heard it before: Be the change you want to see. Go against it, like I do with this blog. Each person can use the talents and gifts they have to fight whatever is going on.

Don’t give up on the world yet. Stay optimistic.

Monday Motivation: Stay in your lane

blessed light

Sometimes, we’re comparing ourselves to others. We look at what other people are doing and start doing what they do. Problem with that is, everybody is doing something different so now you’re doing one thing, five different ways.

Just because other people are doing things, doesn’t mean those things are meant for you. People have things that you simply are not meant to have. People are in places where you are not meant to be. Maybe not now. Maybe never.

So, instead of worrying about where others are, focus on yourself. Stay in your lane, babe.

This is your path. Your future. As unique as everyone is, your path is not the same exact path as someone else’s. Understand this.

As long as you are doing what God tells you to do, there’s no reason why you should focus on others and what they are doing and where they are going.

Monday Motivation: Appreciate the black folks

I don’t normally get hype about Black History Month. I’m Brown. Where’s my month!? But seriously, black people have made contributions when given the chance. I encourage you to look into who black people have positively changed society.

Inventions. Achievements. The President. Black people have come a long way; but we have a ways to go. I truly hope that you give us a chance if you doubt us. I promise we’re pretty awesome people.

I was thinking about doing something here at DALANEL to showcase the positives of black people. Then I realized that I didn’t have the balls to do it; so I’ll jut use this post.

Your Monday Motivation today is a month long.

Monday Motivation: Get Stubborn

Sometimes, when we go through life, we need a level of stubbornness to help us get through.

We need a line in us that we just won’t cross. We need to be stubborn in our determination. We fight and fight and we don’t quit. Don’t quit.

I remember I was working on the Good Friday play for my church and my lighting crew was going down in flames. I wanted to quit. I was stressed. I was angry. Tired. Yet, I couldn’t give up, mainly because I was too stubborn to actually throw in the towel. I kept pushing because, for me, once I give my word and commitment, I see it through, no matter what.

So, that’s part of what I mean. See some things through. You make new year’s resolutions? Get stubborn about them. Keep them and never let go.

Changes to Wednesday Word and Thursday Thoughts

These are minor tweaks.

For Wednesday Word, I am officially making video length no more than 10 minutes. The original rule was no more than 20 minutes. Also, I am no longer adding my commentary. So, video and done,

For Thursday Thoughts, I’ll be adding an image of a quote, along with the typical three quotes.

What I’m aiming to do with DALANEL is to make this a quick stop destination. Each post here is short and sweet. Videos are no longer than 10 minutes. Just a few quotes to chew on; nothing overwhelming.

I try to get this stuff up in the morning so you can start your day off on a positive note. I really want to settle in these daily posts so I don’t anticipate too many changes besides these little tweaks.
