Wednesday Word: Finish Your Race

Another Wednesday Word. We’ll start with the video and then we’ll talk about it:

Good stuff, there. There’s a quote I’ve seen somewhere. Lord knows I don’t know the exact saying of it but I got the gist. A lot of times, when we quit, we don’t realize how close we are to finishing.

The father helping his son finish the race reminds me of Philippians 4:13. We can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. This includes running our race. We have the ultimate resource: God. He can help us with anything. On our own, we’re not going to be able to do much. God knows this and He’s made Himself constantly available.

Wednesday Word: The Power of Prayer

Alright, every once in a while, I’ll come across a video of a sermon that I don’t always…”agree” with. This isn’t one of those times but there will be a couple of times where I will look at things differently than what the sermon says.

There is nothing wrong with having your own interpretation or if you want to challenge what you’ve heard. The Lord wants you to challenge Him.

On with the sermon:

The power of prayer.

Things to Expect If You Follow DALANEL

So, recently, DALANEL reached 800 followers. I’m glad about it. I’m a man that likes to know what he’s getting himself into before he commits. I like to know the history and vision behind causes to see if I want to be a part of that. That’s why I have so many pages in this blog with a lot of information as to what this blog is about and why I started it and who I am. The idea is that, visiting for the first time, you read a couple of pages and then follow. Make an informed follow.

This list is a sort of collection of the info on various pages. These things are what you can expect if you decide to follow me. I am prepared to lose a couple (or many) followers after they get a hold of this. That’s okay.

You’ll be dealing with a Christian

First thing’s first. You need to understand that, the values of this blog are in sync with Christian principles. certain things will be interpreted in a Christian sense. There will be Bible verses and sermons. God is a huge part of why this blog exists. So, if you don’t believe in the Christian concept, turn back. Don’t worry, I won’t shove things down your throat. I welcome all people in all walks of life. No problem there. I’m mentioning this for you and your sake of knowledge. I am fully aware people will not follow me because I am a Christian. That’s fine with me.

Top 10 Quotes From My Book

Earlier, I talked about my favorite chapters from my book. Today, in yet another self centered post, I’ll talk about some of my favorite things I’ve said. It’s not ranked by favorite. Just ten passages I really liked from my book. Ya ready? Let’s gooooooo!

10. Who should we be?

There’s that common saying: You can do anything if you put your mind to it. I don’t
really buy into that. I never did. I always looked at it this way: You can do
anything that God calls you to do. You can be anybody God calls you to be. It’s
not about what we want to do or be, it’s about what God has planted us to do.

9. Talking to God

But let’s review the problem that we have when praying. We go to God, ask for something, and then walk away saying “Amen”. What’s wrong with that? Recognize that prayer is a special word for talking. We’re talking to God. When we talk to our friends, we wait for the reply. But with God, it’s “I want this and that, Amen” then walk away. The thing that cracks me up is we get offended when we don’t hear a response. But God tried to say “yes” “no” “maybe” “later”, while we walk away.

Wednesday Word: Passion Changes Everything

Welcome to the first post of the long overdue weekly segment: Wednesday Word. In case you don’t know, Wednesday Word will normally go a little something like this: A short sermon, typically less than 10 minutes, could be longer but rarely over 30 minutes, and then some Dante commentary. As I’ve said before, I’m no pastor or something. You don’t have to be to know the Word of God. Here’s today’s video:

Faith in God, not the Government

If you’ve been following this blog, or if you’ve followed me at all, then you kinda knew this post was coming.

I follow politics. I rarely discuss them. I don’t have a party; I just vote on the best solution to the issue. Race and/or gender doesn’t matter to me.

Okay, got that out of the way. Let’s talk about recent events. I’m sure you heard the US government shutdown. I’m not going to talk about who is right or wrong. I am going to talk about why this shutdown doesn’t phase me…that much.

My faith is in God, who is on control of everything. He will make sure I survive this mess. Not to say this shutdown will kill us all, but, I know there are some people who are scared. Scared because the government has shut down and things are uncertain.

Don’t get me wrong. The government is important. Very important. The Bible calls Christians to pray for our government and to follow their lead. I’m no rebel and I do care for my government. I think it’s a shame this has happened. People have lost their jobs…but the bills won’t stop.

But we have to trust God. Not just during the hard times but for the good too. So, to keep this post short, pray for this nation. Pray that both sides will come to a sensible agreement. We need to get out of this and the leaders of this country need to follow God’s way.

Trusting God is smart. He will never let His people down. In the worst of times, He’s looking out for His own. So, while we need our government, let’s never forget who is in complete control. Also, really take a look at the related articles too as they help with my message. I didn’t use them, but, I ran into them after I was done.
