A Nevada man and an Iranian are teaming up:

Now, the two are planning to reunite next month to ride their bikes across Iran in a symbolic gesture of peace.

Their project, Wheels of Peace, will begin with each of them visiting schools in his respective country and sharing his experiences of finding friendship with someone who might otherwise be considered an enemy.

The children will be asked to write letters to students in the other country.

Very cool.

DALANEL Stats: October 2013

WordPress

WordPress (Photo credit: Adriano Gasparri)

Another month is over. October saw a significant setback. Indeed, DALANEL took a step back and this is the worst month since June of this year. Still, the blog’s moving along and I feel like November will be better.

Anyway, let’s do what we did last month. First, countries:

  1. United States
  2. Canada
  3. United Kingdom
  4. Germany
  5. Australia

Interesting. Australia was second last month. Other than that, these five are the same five from last month. What about referrers?

  1. Search Engines
  2. Tumblr
  3. Twitter
  4. Facebook
  5. WordPress.com Reader

Interesting list here. Search engines take the big bulk as usual. However, Tumblr continues to dominate the social media area. I’m getting love from WordPress as well. So, while the blog’s viewing is down, it’s popularity seems to be rising in the WordPress ranks. Cool.

Weekly News 7

I got some news for ya!

I’ll let you decide if this is weird or good news but doctors were able to grow another nose for a man…on his forehead:

After a Chinese man’s nose was irreparably damaged from infection, his doctors decided to “grow” a second nose on the man’s forehead to replace the original nose.

If you’re lazy and don’t want to hit the link, here’s a picture. I bet that’ll spark your interest:

The medical field is making progress. My only issue is…well…look at him…he’s my age and I can’t imagine living like that.

For good news, we have a dog that saved a baby from crawling into the ocean. First of all, I’m glad the dog saved the kid. Second, the parents might want to keep an eye on him. Just my opinion.
For weird news, termites are so hard to get rid of because apparently, their poop helps resist poisons. Wait, I’m not done yet. So, scientists say the poop forms a “force field” that protects the little guys from harm. Well ain’t that story full of…

10 Facts You May Not Know About Me

I have revealed a little of myself. And while I’ve built a presence with a  certain identity, there are a few things you may not know about me. Welp, I guess it’s time you learned a little more about who is behind this voice. There’s some good, bad, funny, weird, and…I guess that’s it.

Number 1: My origin is West African

I found out about this during the summer. Thanks to an injury to one of my sisters in her wrist, she got it x-rayed. The doctor noticed that a bone in her wrist was “not normal” but there was nothing wrong with it and that same form is typically found in West Africans. Yay for me. I’ll have to get to know my roots. I don’t know what part of West Africa we’re from and I don’t know if it’s mom or dad’s side. It just so happens my god-siblings are West African (born here but their mother is born in West Africa). So, we’re a little more related I guess.

Number 2: I would describe my life as “organized chaos”

I’m very messy. My room is messy. And yet, I happen to know where everything is. All my important paper work is accounted for. I seem to thrive in clutter and chaos. I have a lot of stuff going on and yet it’s comfortable. When I do clean my room, it feels awkward and empty and boring. For instance, the next few months are gonna be wild. I’m lighting director for the Christmas Cantata, ALPHA Facilitator, News Desk Writer as well as blogger for FanSided, school, teaching Sunday church and running this blog. And I’m not feeling pressured at all.

Number 3: I can’t stand my voice

That video series I did? I haven’t actually listened to it. I hate hearing my voice. You know how sometimes we don’t notice things until they are pointed out to us? Then we’ll go, “Hey, you’re right!”. So, to try to prevent you from hating my voice the way I do, I won’t tell you what I hate about it.

Weekly Funnies 12

You already know. Jokes, videos, images, and whatever else I think is funny. Let’s go!

A young woman was having a physical examination and was embarrassed because of a weight problem. As she removed her last bit of clothing, she blushed. “I’m so ashamed, Doctor,” she said, “I guess I let myself go.”

The physician was checking hers eyes and ears. “Don’t feel ashamed, Miss. You don’t look that bad.”

“Do you really think so, Doctor?” she asked.

The doctor held a tongue depressor in front of her face and said, “Of course. Now just open your mouth and say moo.”

Oh c’mon man. It’s hard to say “moo” with an open mouth!
