This Blog Sucks, But, It’s Getting Better

Numbers don’t lie! This blog isn’t doing very well. It’s been here for 2 years. 2 years. And I just got over 1,000 views. The best day has been 21 views in a day. This blog sucks. Before I did this overhaul, I had about 30 posts by October 2012. Jesus.

So now what? Well, the blog is starting to perform better. I have a lot more followers than before but I’m less than 20 so…yeah. Of course, factor my Twitter following and Facebook likes and I have over 200. Not bad. While this blog is bad, the numbers are pointing in an upward direction.

Yay.

Part of the reason, really, it’s the biggest reason, is that I’ve been blogging more consistently. Any successful blog strives on consistency. Back when this blog was known as Dante’s Opinion, I was posting just a few times per month. My aim with DALANEL is to post a few times per week.

Having constant posts is key. I also think variety is key. That’s why I have Weekly Funnies and Good Friday posts. That’s why I invited Dallas to blog.

Actually, let me explain Dallas T a little more.

As you saw, she “Finally” posted on the site. It’s not her best work but I mean she manages her own blog so she’s gotta save her best for that. My blog has a tagline: The Mind of Dante Nelson. So, shouldn’t all of my posts be from my voice? My thoughts? DANTE?

Sure but consider this: Dallas is a dear loved one of mine who, while probably is not the blogger at heart that I am, is a good blogger. And in my many positive talks with her, I find that we think alike. So, chances are, her voice is the same as mine. It always amazes me how she and I live so far apart and yet have such a bond as we do.

Plus, she talks about a certain topic that, while I have thoughts on it, I don’t really go about writing about them. So she’s writing for me in a way. Again, same thought pattern.

Alright this isn’t a Dallas T post although there’s so many wonderful things I could say about her.

So, with this blog’s transformation, I have noticed the blog numbers grow. I still suck. They are terrible. You can imagine my numbers when the blog was nothing.

So, why did I put my stuff out here in the open? Am I embarrassing myself? Welp, you already know I don’t mind sharing my low points. I talk to myself on a regular basis; more than people realize. It helps my creativity process. So while I was blogging, and seeing no one was reading my stuff, I was ok. I was just talking to myself. Besides, all blogs or at least first time bloggers start off that way. You’ll feel like you’re talking to nobody. Nobody clicks on your stuff. There’s no comments.

But if you believe in your words…if you believe that you are bringing something special to the world…you must keep blogging. Keep writing. Eventually, people will come. Keep working on your blog. Keep sharing your work; even if you don’t have immediate reaction/support.

Not everybody is going to like what you write about. You may get some negative responses. Push through it. And stay true to yourself. You won’t pleas everybody and you shouldn’t aim to. Some will like and some will not. The best you can do is to make sure you present your post in a way that does not offend anyone. Be respectful.

And while some folks may complain that their 2 year old blog is not a popular as they expected, I want to say thank you for your support. Thank you for reading these posts. I would be blogging if nobody was reading because I’m weird like that. But when I have support like yours it makes me feel better. I won’t lie. Having folks actually looking forward to your posts does give me motivation on my “I wonder if it’s worth it” days.

You won’t be disappointed either. Keep tuning to this blog. I am always making tweaks and such to try and make this blog better each day.

    • I’ve always been able to be honest with myself and try to be with others. All great blogs have to start somewhere so I’m not ashamed of these low points. It only makes my story better once this blog becomes very popular and successful.

      • EXACTLY! I’m really trying to boost my numbers as well. I try to write everyday but other than that, I don’t know what else to do. Maybe get connected with some of the larger blog sites? I dunno…

P.S. – And I just realized I haven’t “followed” you yet. I will now. So add me to your list…

      • Thanks for the follow. And yeah, that’s what I’m trying to do with this blog. I want to gather several bloggers and their blogs and form a blogging network as a way of being a support system. If you stick around this blog, you’ll notice I post every day myself as well as connecting this blog to my many social media sites and followings. To be honest, I’m stuck as well. The few people that stop by like what they see so the quality must be decent. I just gotta bring more people in. I’ve read countless articles that always give the same advice. I use it but it doesn’t quite work. I think, for me, it just needs time. I re-launched the blog in August 2012 so this current format has only been around for a year.
