Daily Good Stuff 139: Sports

Friday! It’s time for a sports themed post. My favorite is basketball. You already knew that. In the case of themed posts, the normal layout goes out the window and we get kinda random. So let’s play ball!

10 things in golf that sound dirty

1. Look at the size of his putter.

2. Oh, dang, my shaft’s all bent.

3. You really wacked the heck out of that sucker.

4. After 18 holes I can barely walk.

5. My hands are so sweaty I can’t get a good grip.

6. Lift your head and spread your legs.

7. You have a nice stroke, but your follow through leaves a lot to be desired.

8. Just turn your back and drop it.

9. Hold up. I’ve got to wash my balls.

10. Darn, I missed the hole again.

How about a video? You already know what it’s about:

Daily Good Stuff 138: The Return

I’m back! It’s a new month and first off I have to say something about July: July viewing almost doubled June’s viewing, and June was the best month. I don’t know where the summer explosion came from (actually, I do thanks to WordPress’ stats), but I’m glad it came. And I fully expect August to do even better than July. My play and video series are coming to a close but I’m counting on my past work to carry the load as you saw in my earlier post today.

DGS is gonna be good too. More themed posts. More fun.

Let’s get today off on the right track.

I can’t change the direction of the wind, but I can adjust my sails to always reach my destination. Jimmy Dean

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things — and the things that are not — to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29

Dante’s Opinion Returns!

As I’ve said a few times, when I first started this blog in February 2011, it was called “Dante’s Opinion” where I offered my opinion on stuff. I had a few posts during that time and I’m bringing them back. Why? Because I have more traffic. Also, well, I think some of those posts are pretty good. All of the posts that I published from the start until my relaunch in August 2012 are up for grabs.

While the theme of the blog has changed, my writing hasn’t. The posts will barely have any altercation to them so it’ll be very close, if not and exact copy of the original. This will last all month.

I expect to receive comments on posts and I think the traffic is gonna beat out July. Some of my posts talk about some common stuff and thus may get even more clicks. Also, there are a couple of fun posts I write as well so it’s gonna be pretty cool.

At this time, the play and video series will be in the final moments. After August, I don’t have any special series so you would see Daily Good Stuff and a few opinion pieces from me. This will be my last month of consistent posting from me. I will be taking a break from blogging for a little while (up to a week). I have a couple of stuff pre-written to carry the site while I’m gone but there most likely won’t be any Daily Good Stuff posts showing up. I’m mentioning this because I might take the break in August. In any event, I’ll let you know the exact dates. Hopefully I get extra bloggers to take the load during this time. If you want to join DALANEL, let me know and I’ll add you on and well talk about what you’ll contribute. I have a page up top talking about it.

In the meantime, look forward to a blast from this blog’s past!

Taking a Break…Looking At August

Well I finally broke down. I’m laying off of DALANEL for a few days. I have other things to attend to anyway.  How long will I be out of action? Today, tomorrow, and Wednesday. The site will still be active as I still will finish the “Today in July History” posts. I will also put up the latest scene of my play as well. But, the Daily Good Stuff and other work will not show up until Thursday.

So, at this point, I’ll give a little preview for August. August is a time of looking back at some of my previous work. Most of the posts I wrote when this blog was known as “Dante’s Opinion” will be re-posted on the blog. There’s a lot of goodies that I think deserve another look. And, with traffic and a much larger following, plus, I launched DALANEL in August of last August, I feel like this is a good time to go retro.

July viewing really died after shattering a daily viewing record on the 21st. And, with viewing so poor, I felt like it wouldn’t make much of a difference if I kept on trying to post in this month.

Daily Good Stuff has been a little bland and I have noticed that most of the views for Daily Good Stuff posts are themed. So look forward to more themed DGS posts in August and beyond.

I’m really hoping August is even better than July. I’m also looking forward to adding a new blogger to the DALANEL team. Well, I’m the only one on the team but still. That way, I can take breaks and other folks can still run the show.

I’m trying to think of some sophisticated line to end the post on.

Whoop, there it is.

Daily Good Stuff 137

Boy viewing has been crap lately ever since the 21 when the viewing record shattered the previous one. August has some cool stuff in store that will bring back the people. At this point, I’m limping to through the end of the month here. Of course, viewing is so bad that I might just leave the month alone and come back strong in August. But, you’re here for the good stuff. I hear ya. Let’s go.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.” Mark 12:30

I hated every minute of training, but I said, ‘Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.’ Muhammad Ali

Don’t let the fear of striking out hold you back. Babe Ruth

How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word. Psalm 119:9

A Chinese couple had a new baby. The nurse brings over a lovely, healthy, bouncy, black baby boy. “Congratulations,” says the nurse to the new parents. “What will you name the baby?” The puzzled father looks at his new baby boy and says, “I think we will name him Sum Ting Wong.”

Oh…now that’s funny.

Most of us heard about the Spanish train crash and the many deaths and injuries. Welp, people who heard about it are lining up voluntarily to give blood. Very cool.

It would appear that a full moon can mess with your sleep.
