Today in good news history: New York bans slavery
I would hope that this is good news to all of us, but I know better. In any event, I think a majority of us agree that this is a good thing. The state of New York decided to ban slavery in the state. Of course, this doesn’t mean that slavery stopped. As with many things, people will do things illegally. But, this was a nice step in the human rights parade.
July 4th is also a time when the United States celebrate their declaration of independence. So…you know…that’s cool.

Wednesday Word: Prophet, Priest, or King?
Let’s get started with the video:
If I had to pick who I was, it would seem I’m more of a priest. I’m definitely not a prophet and I do see some of the King stuff in me.
Of course, there’s nothing wrong with having a little of all of these things. It’s just that, some people have it more or at least are called to be something over something else.
What about you?

Today in good news history: Salvation Army founded
William Booth did something special with the Salvation Army. I’ll let them talk about it:
In 1865, William Booth was invited to hold a series of evangelistic meetings in the East End of London. He set up a tent in a Quaker graveyard, and his services became an instant success. This proved to be the end of his wanderings as an independent traveling evangelist. His renown as a religious leader spread throughout London, and he attracted followers who were dedicated to fight for the souls of men and women.
Kinda creepy with the graveyard thing but…sometimes in the face of death, life comes?
I wonder what’s next.
