Monday Motivation: Express yourself

Too many times, we keep out feelings and thoughts to ourselves. We need an outlet.

It’s time we let our voices be heard.

It’s time to express ourselves.

Some people use song (singing, playing an instrument, whatever). Some write. Others might dance. Maybe there’s an outfit that really sends a message. However you choose to do it, do it.

The simplest of ways is to literally just say it. I talk to myself. It helps me to really sort out my feelings and thoughts. Maybe do that. Some of you might think it’s crazy, but my best work has started as a conversation with myself. To each his own.

Speaking from a USA standpoint, we are free to express ourselves. And we need to take advantage of this.

Welp, I gotta go. I can hear myself calling.

Don’t worry; I still love DALANEL

My lovely readers, you may have noticed I’ve been making some tweaks here at DALANEL. There are other changes on the way. Now, it will appear as if I’m putting DALANEL on the back as I deal with Dante Ball and Dante’s Funny World.

And yes, part of that is true.

However, DALANEL is where all the action is. The reason I launched Dante’s Blog Network was to be able to blog about the things I love, in one place. Blogging the positive, sports, and humor is what I’m about. When I first started DALANEL, that’s what this blog was going to be about. However, a blog clustered with such different content is something I read was bad news. So, I picked the positive blogging as DALANEL’s focus.

DBN is the optional follow all of my writing in one spot type blog. However, the blogs I run are under one common goal: To make me look good.

There will be changes here at DALANEL is only to further create a unified look. I’m not planning on changing the actual layout/theme of the blog. Each blog should have a theme that sort of matches what the blog’s voice is. But, each blog will have a standard. And yes, each blog will be periodically posting about the other blogs. So, for you folks, you’ll see “Follow my other blogs” or some other posts like that every once in a while.

Wednesday Word: Watch what you eat

This may be my favorite word of all time. It’s also one of the shortest.

These are the times where we really need to evaluate ourselves. It was the perfect story. He said all there is to say.

Watch what you eat this week. If we’re so full of junk food…skittles…we lose our appetite for actual nourishment. Sometimes, it shows. Maybe you text while in church. For no reason. You’re just bored…or full. Or, for you football fans; you’re ready to go home to catch the game. You even consider not going to service if it means you could miss the long behind preview shows.

What are our bellies full of?

It’s not a diet either. You can’t just come into church for a few weeks and then go back to what you were eating before. It really is a lifestyle change. If you want a healthy spiritual life, you have to eat the right food all the time.

Wednesday Word can be a healthy snack for your spiritual life; but I can’t say this is something to live on. Go to church. Hear the word. Sing the songs. It’s for your benefit.

Live well.

Monday Motivation: Fight your addiction

Most of us have that one thing we like or do that, well, would take a lot to stop dealing with. Me? This Windows Phone has been absolutely terrific. And, sadly, I may need a little rehab if I were to lose it.

You might watch a little too much TV. Or perhaps it’s something more serious like drugs or alcohol. Could be sex (can’t help ya there!). Whatever the addiction is, today…this week…from now on: FIGHT IT.

Don’t be a slave to your desires. Be strong! Fight back. “No more!” Tell that thing who’s boss. You’re calling the shots, baby!

In some cases, the things we’re fighting are a part of our lives. And so, we have to be able to manage them. Other things are harmful and need to go ASAP. I’ll leave you to be the judge of that. Be honest with yourself or you’re probably gonna fail.

I’m out.

Dad has accident with machete, four year old daughter saves his life

Here’s a story of a brave little girl who saw that her daddy had an accident with a machete. Ya, there was blood. Pops was dying.

Last week — when she was still three — her dad was out back cutting up a tree that had fallen in the ice storm. He was using his machete on some branches. He accidentally cut his right arm near the wrist — his artery, nerves, tendons.

The mom, Andrea Powers, was at work. The neighbors were not at home.

The little girl’s name is Elisha. And Elisha had a little sister.

Shawn ended up sitting on the front porch with Elisha and her younger sister, Elaina. He was trying to stop the bleeding with his left hand, and unable to pick up the phone with either hand to call 911.

But he and his wife had taught Elisha how to do it.

“I knew she was my only option,” Shawn said, “my last option, basically.”

She called 911. Teaching her how to unlock the cell phone and dial the number was a good idea, I guess. They had just taught her too. She was describing what she did. She also said this:

“I put [the phone] in Daddy’s ear and then he talked to the police and then I was crying. And then I was really brave.”

Her dad also said this:

“She did great,” Shawn said. “I mean, she was very calm the whole time. I could see her, she was tearing up and everything, but she wasn’t crazy crying, screaming and everything. It’s like she knew there was something important that she had to do and she was going to do it.”

“I remember her saying, ‘I don’t want to lose my daddy, I don’t want to lose my family,’ it’s like she knew this was a way that she could help me. So I was really, really proud of her.”

It’s a good thing she kept her cool. The morale of the story is: It’s never too early to teach your kids how to function in an emergency. Sure, they’re young. You can only pray that, in the right moment, they’ll be able to pull through with their “training”.

The whole story can be read here.

Wednesday Word: Don’t Steal

Yes, it’s one of the ten commandments. Don’t steal. And yet, we as a people, struggle with this. Watch the video:

Good stuff in there. My thoughts:

Stealing is the result of something. In order for us to avoid stealing, we need to understand why we steal. We steal because we want. And, in most cases, this want takes the form of greed. Or lust. Or whatever type of desire.

So, if we can manage those types of emotions, we are less likely to steal. You don’t take the risk of stealing if you really didn’t want it.

Of course, some people steal because they can. They may steal simply because they are that controlled by the devil’s voice. Yes, the devil cannot make you do anything. But, he’s a smooth talker.

So, as the end of the video calls for, let’s give.
