Wednesday Word: Do you have a Jonah spirit?

Yes another week of Wednesday Word is here. It’s been a very successful feature here at DALANEL. No reason to try to spice things up. If you’re new here, Wednesday Word is where I grab a short sermon from the internet; about no longer than 10 minutes long, and then I write some commentary.

Are ya ready?

Those of you that have been following this blog for several months now know what my Jonah spirit is: Lighting director of my church’s cantatas and plays. I don’t really want to do it, but I know I have to. In fact, I talked about such an event where I was swallowed by a “whale” that God sent.

Anyway, running away from what God wants us to do is rather foolish. Anything that God wants us to do, it’s for our benefit. God is God. He doesn’t need you. He would rather have you play a role, but, He’ll go to somebody else if need be. He may not always send a whale to bring you back.

Like the pastor said, let’s do a better job of embracing/accepting what God calls us to do.

Hero of the Week: Steve Frame

It’s here. Hero of the Week takes on a story of a hero. Duh, right?

Today’s hero is Steve Frame. He witnessed a car roll of a road as it flipped several times. And, here’s what he did:

Frame pulled his car over to the side of the interstate, jumped over a concrete wall to help the people get out of the crashed car, and called 911. Frame said he didn’t expect the people inside of the car to be okay because the car rolled several times before it landed upside down.

Great job. Here’s how he felt about the events:

“It doesn’t fall into my classification of hero. Courage just doing what one should do under ordinary, or extraordinary circumstances, is what we all should do,” Frame said.

Read the rest of the story here. There’s video.

Monday Motivation: Finally finish that project/goal

Are you waiting to get in shape? Trying to lose some weight? Are you putting off that book (writing or reading)? Whatever it is, do it, or make some progress on it.

It’s time to get it done.

Sometimes, the best rewards come from the hardest work. It’s time to feel good about ourselves. No matter how small, we want to end with “I did it!”. Stop waiting. Make the move. Me? I’m finally gonna get myself together with these blogs. I’ve been slacking off like a blogging bum and that needs to stop.

I have a play that I’ve been working on since 2010. Quite honestly, I need to get it done. It’s time to put that baby to bed and move on for another project.

So, again, I ask you: What is your unfinished project? What goal in your life have you put off?

th

Boom. So let’s go. Even if you map out your path to get it done; do something to go forward in that area.

Let’s go to work.

Wednesday Word: Dealing with desire

New here? Wednesday Word is where I go grab a video of a short sermon and post it here with my thoughts. Sermons are usually less than 10 minutes, but no longer than 20. Here’s the video:

Andy hit it again. It’s something to really consider.

Ultimately, as the commandments say, we shouldn’t have envy or lust or whatever. But, we do have desires.

But, how can we tell if we’re breaking the commandments?

Good News expands: Hero of the Week, Breakthrough of the Week, and more

I’m going to try to expand good news in a sense. I would like to have something posted each day on DALANEL. I have Monday, Wednesday, and Friday locked up. So, we have Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday to look into. My wildly unsuccessful play runs on Tuesday, but that won’t be forever. Thursday is where Good News tends to land. Friday, however, is tacked with Follower Friday, which really isn’t a positive themed feature. So, I might have to grab something for Friday, especially if the FF post doesn’t work out.

However, by splitting the good news, I can cover more ground, while being able to focus on a specific story.

For starters, I aim to have types of stories. On Tuesday, I’m going with Hero of the Week. That pretty much sums up what that post will be about: Finding a story in the past week that involved someone doing something great to save others or doing the right thing.
