Dante’s Opinion: Should My Husband Support My Friend’s Affair?

Did you read that question? I mean, what? I don’t even get it. Here’s the story:

My best friend and I are very close and like sisters. In a few weeks she’s coming for a visit for the weekend for a big event we are attending, and wants my husband and I to go on a double date with her for the event. The problem is, her date is a married man, who is still with his wife and kids, but is sneaking away with her for the weekend. My husband has said he doesn’t agree with the relationship and does not want to go out with them, under any circumstance…he told me if I want to go, I can go alone. I don’t agree with her relationship either and have told her, but ultimately it’s her choice. I don’t want to go with them, but I don’t want to ruin my friendship with my best friend either. I also definitely don’t want to go alone…. I’m already uncomfortable and this will make it worse. I think my husband should suck it up and go in support of me, but he is refusing. What should I do? I respect his right to refuse, but think he should not leave me to go alone with them. I have met him, but I have never been anywhere with them because we live in different cities and he’s usually unable to come when we are visiting one another. They will be in a hotel nearby for the whole weekend, and want us to all spend a lot of time together. Help!

Alright……this is a lot to process. I…

Okay, so we have a few points that jump out at me:

  • If your friendship is ruined because you refuse to participate in low moral standard activities, you might have a problem with your relationship in general.
  • Your only option is to tell your friend that you indeed cannot play a part of this. (more on that later)
  • You say you don’t want to go, but you also expect your husband to play along too. Huh?

Dante’s Opinion: What’s the Best Way to Show Someone You Love Them?

Cute question:

What’s the Best Way to Show Someone You Love Them?

The best way?

Usually, I show people I love them by two main things: Acts of service and fierce loyalty. I do things for people when they ask for it or just because. I am also a very loyal person. I will fight with and for you no matter what. I’m an excellent teammate; a true point gaurd who will toss out assist after assist.

People who take advantage of that are banished forever. I don’t play that.

That’s how I show love for people.

I don’t think there is a best way because people receive love differently. People express love differently. So many ways to feel and show love means that not everybody will respond the same. You sort of have to figure out how that person reacts to things and then you can figure out how to show them love based on their…”preference”.

Dante’s Opinion: Is It Rude to Call Someone A Hoe?

As you might expect from this title, things are about to get real.

Yesterday, my classmates and I were discussing the topic of virginity and all of them have lost their virginity except for me. Since I am 22, most of my friends thought it was weird I haven’t lost it yet and this one girl was making fun of me for being a prude. I responded by telling her that I can at least take comfort in the fact I am not a herpes infested hoe like you. This girl I responded to does have genital herpes. Was I being rude to this girl?

Ooooooooooooooh! I hate it when people attack your virginity. I mean, your response was out of control and I guess we can say “rude”. But, if you’re like me, you were probably frustrated as this isn’t the first time you’ve been mocked for being a virgin.

Yeah, you did a low blow there. Aye, it was nice, but not appropriate. Here’s the thing though:

  • Someone with herpes didn’t necessarily get it from being a hoe. All it takes is one partner one time and you’re done.
  • There could have been an issue with non sexual contact too. Odds are, she slept with somebody, but it’s not 100% way of getting the virus.

You should probably apologize for that remark. I say probably because…oh fine. You should apologize. I personally would likely not because that’s what kind of guy I am: A big a-hole. But yeah, the right thing to do is apologize.

Family

What is family? Who is our family? How do we define family members?

What I have seen very recently is that there are two ways of looking at things. Some people believe that the only people in the family are biologically related to you. Others see a mixture of both.

I see it as the second. I am a believer in that anybody can be family because of another belief I have: It’s something you earn.

From a biblical standpoint, Jesus even supports the idea that being biologically related is not the only way to have family. As He was dying, He tells one of His disciples to meet his mother; and it just so happened that this mother was Mary, the mother of Jesus. Jesus told His mother than this disciple was now her son.

With that in mind, I believe that people from all walks of life are eligible to be a brother, sister, father, whatever. You can grow with people outside of the bloodline and become as close as anybody.

Blood relatives have a head start: They are family from the beginning. They have that title. Here’s the thing: They can lose it.

Not everybody will agree with me on this, and that’s fine. But, guess what? I don’t care. Consider this example.

Dante’s Opinion: Is My Friend Right In Telling Me to Kill Myself?

Oh Jesus have mercy.

My friend told me to jump in front of a car and end it all this is the third time he’s said this. He said it’s for everyone’s benefit I’m starting to think he’s right.

No, you don’t want to kill yourself. Why would he say this? It’s-

Wait…

Hold up…

“My friend”. That’s your friend? YOUR FRIEND? That’s not a friend. That is evil. I don’t care what his logic is; that’s sick. No, you need to cut this guy loose real quick.

Don’t talk to him again. Don’t let those thoughts sink in. Don’t believe what he is telling you.
